Greetings one and all! Welcome to my latest art blog! Today, I bring you Patches and Ahbs. I adore these star crossed lovers, and often come back to them, in various aus. Some are happier than others… but there will alway be pine-ing.

As I often initiate these with, the not Star Wars half of this is on the 30sec Timelapse speed, while the rest of the Timelapse is at its full normal speed.

Also as a heads up- for any of you familiar with Drawfee, might be familiar with them meming about ‘Delete your art!’… a lot of the Timelapse is gonna relate to that. I had several ideas for different ways I wanted to do light effects to color them, a lot of them slow and tedious involving stippling… and I went with none of it.

So be prepared for lots of dots that are not going to stick around.

Additonally- procreate sometimes does weird things when the background is supposed to be transparent… when drawing I can see my old art- but on the Timelapse it just made the whole background black and it just looks like I’m :sparkles: magically :sparkles: mimicking the old line art. I’m not. I’m not that skilled. XD

There are many places in the galaxy that leave their mark on their inhabitants. Some for better, and some for worse…

Across the galaxy there are a great many cities- many dark places, full of neon lights- but none quite like Nar Shadaa- The moon wide city that did not allow all it’s denizens see the sun nor stars.

For some, the lights most well known to them, were the neon buzz of ads and signs decorating each window and corner, constantly bombarding their consciousness….

Leaving many who grew up there, afflicted with dreams bathed in those pervasive lights… Neon Dreamers were not exclusively made on Nar Shadaa- but no where in the galaxy were they quite as prevalent….

Ahbee and Patches were both born on Nar Shadaa, Patches spending his childhood there- and Ahbee fully growing up on its city’s streets. As such, both have earned themselves the title of Neon Dreamers.

For Patches- not every dream is entirely in Neon, especially when his dreams are filled with force visions. However most of his dreams are at least tinged with neon- especially when he dreams of Ahbee.

For Ahbee- even her force dreams have trouble breaking away from being entirely cast in Neon. Sure, the neon doesn’t quite work as it should- but that is the nature of dreams.

For those of you who are interested- since this one would be very difficult to translate on one’s own because of how dark and unreadable most of it is- the writing in the background is the lyrics to “This Love Will Be Your Downfall”

It’s a song that, while very much not the only song I have on my many Patches & Ahbs playlists, one that shows up on almost every iteration of playlist that I make for them.

I love the idea of soulmates. I hate the idea that being soulmates makes anything easier. I like the idea that being soulmates, having found each other- and knowing each other on any sort of deep level: actually makes things harder and more difficult.

That people can be wonderfully happy never meeting their other half- for they know not what they’re missing.

I’m not sure if Patches and Ahbs are soulmates in Star-Crossed, it’s an idea I’m hesitant to introduce to the AU. However the idea behind it- that they can’t forget each other, or really ever move on from each other, I wanted to keep. That no matter how much time es- no matter what comes between them- no matter how polar opposite their factions are… some part of them still needs the other…. That I can’t quite let go of.

Anyway- it’s fairly rare for Ahbee and Patches to actually be asleep at the same time. So from their point of view this occurrence is quite rare… but- when their sleep schedules to somehow manage to line up across the galaxy- it is actually very common for them to invade each other’s dreams.

However there is very little about these dreams to let them know that this is what’s occurring, and that they aren’t just dreaming about the other on their own. (The frequency with which that happens makes it a valid argument.)

As such, sometimes they have happy dreams together of what could’ve been, or shared memories from childhood. Sometimes they dream as though each were on the other’s side- and other times… they just spend the time together. Sometimes they do realize this is just a dream- and while they treasure it, they are also sorrowful for it.

Not knowing that this is something where the one is actively in the others dreams- it’ll take them a great many years to realize what’s actually going on. They don’t generally feel the need to tell each other that they’ve been dreaming of them, so it just never really comes up. Especially since there is no guarantee they will be anywhere near each other when it happens to talk about it.

So…. Yeah… I hope you liked this art, and my long rambles to fill the space between Timelapse chunks. Goodness knows I always enjoy drawing these two, and definitely have plans to post them again.
