It’s always about too much & too little of it, but what if it was COMPLETELY erased from anime for good starting tomorrow? Not a single amount! Could anime still survive as a whole? In my true & honest opinion? I don’t think so. The concept of fan service never turned me away from anime unless it was completely crazy. Crazy & excessive to the point where I just gave up on anime entirely. Fan service means a lot of things to different people, but it usually means just 1 thing when it comes anime. Sexualized/Freaky characters. Something is being done to service the fandom. You can also argue that fan service can mean that writers just simply want to give the fans what they want. Rather it be through a character or maybe bringing back a character once beloved. The act of listening to your fanbases requests or doing something you know the fans would enjoy on a different level. those crazy Makima &!Gojo fans? Yea, they still exist. 99% of popular anime characters now are usually the ones that are supposed to be attractive & get fan serviced. I don’t think it’s a bad thing because after all, it’s just anime & manga right? Sometimes it isn’t just as simple as we’d like it to be. Creators & writers can be straight up creeps who do the most when it comes to character sexualization. Leaving fans to question each other & question who’s the face behind this anime. So fans really seem to have a problem when it’s excessive, unnecessary & or straight up disturbing. Man, I’d have to agree as well.

𝐌𝐚𝐥𝐞 𝐕𝐬. 𝐅𝐞𝐦𝐚𝐥𝐞 𝐅𝐚𝐧 𝐒𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐜𝐞

I’m not tryna start a gender war or anything but when it comes to how characters are fan serviced, there’s a difference between men & women. The guys don’t have to do much for a fan service in my opinion. Anytime I see them try to fan service dudes like Gojo, Natsu, Goku, Ichigo, Etc, it’s never like crazy over the top. When it comes to female characters though, you see more then over the top, literally topless. :joy: I get it though, most of the majority of anime put out is created by male authors. Those men have a target audience of young guys like me who’s into anime & knows that most guys wouldn’t think twice about watching an anime with overly fan serviced girls. There’s very few popular female authors in anime so you can also see why.

𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐛𝐥𝐞𝐦?

Knowing that information, you can see why a vast majority of fan service haters are females. They are the ones being objectified in anime constantly & body shamed as well. Most of the anime I’ve seen has made some comment about how flat a girl is or how big her tits are. What’s crazier than that is how anime sexualizes minors who they claim are “1000” years old but having the body & look of a 10 year old. No matter the gender, race or form, That shit is NEVER okay. So when you add that on top of how they do the women, you can see why most people choose to look down on anime as a whole. I always ask friends or anime haters their top reasons for disliking anime & they always mention the weird pervy shit. Without a doubt. I’m not one to judge anyone’s culture or what they find funny but it’s all difference in acceptance & about….

𝐕𝐢𝐞𝐰𝐬

Im not Japanese & I’m not living in Japan. I couldn’t possibly know the norms or what’s acceptable or not over there. Everyone has their idea of what’s acceptable and not depending on who they are & where they are in the world. The fan service is seen as a harmless comedy to most in Japan, that’s why they do it. It draws in eyes & makes for great content. Anime is produced & released in Japan first, so technically everyone outside of Japan is just an outsider to the culture. So is it even a problem to those who don’t see it as one? I know I can’t really do anything about the issue besides stop watching the anime entirely & picking up on something else. You & I have every right to voice our opinions on things we spend time on. Watching, reading & spending money to . Which leads me to my next topic.

𝐒𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐛𝐨𝐝𝐲 𝐁𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐟𝐢𝐭$ 𝐄𝐢𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐖𝐚𝐲 $

Rather it’s good or bad press, those feeling pressed will still not see a change. All because all attention is good attention when it comes to views. These creators know what will get the people talking and cash flowing. Especially nowadays with how short attention spanned people are & how it’s a trend to have this cool aesthetic & be half naked. Why wouldn’t they incorporate what’s popular in society & put that into their content? It’s all about money. Even the goat status anime that we know and love have lots of fan service moments & things that just made you CRINGE. Rather you pay for anime or not, you’re investing your time into it. When it comes to spending hard cash on merch, there’s a huge community of anime fans who’s willing to buy. Just think about all the figures & collectibles thrown in our faces of popular attractive anime characters. All doing weird shit or wearing nothing at all. Most see it as just business & some are just that damn freaky out here with what they create. Check those hard drives 🤦‍♂

Of course that would hurt some people. Not even speaking on the fans first but for sure the creators. They are thriving off this fan service shit & it gets them a great deal of views & money. Also I’d like to make clear that there are so many popular & wholesome anime out there that hardly have a drop of fan service. One of my all time favorites for example, #AttackOnTitan . It’s possible for creators to make successful anime without fan service entirely or very minimal. It really is just their preference & how they choose to their anime. Yes, TONS of anime fans would be angry & confused as to why they can no longer see their waifus and husbands the way they used to. Serviced for them! I mean there are other ways of fan service but you know the kind I’m talkin about. I predict it’d cause some outrage & turning fans away from anime completely. It sounds dramatic but fan service is a HUGE part of anime to most, rather you agree with most of it or not. After all, it is just anime. It’s just that the topic of fan service runs so deep, that you really have to decipher what’s morally right about it. What can slide & what can’t. No I’m not a creator or artist but I’m entitled to my opinion like everyone else. I believe fan service itself isn’t an issue until people make it one. Fans AND Creators both. I could live without it though either way🤷‍♂, y’all stay safe.
