The rain beat mercilessly against the windshield, the windshield wipers barely being able to keep up, but it did not matter to either Detective Lee or Minami. If what Minami theorized was correct they were running out of time. Fast. Minami’s heart thundered in his chest as he fought the fear that was trying to grip him. If he was… if they were too late… no, he was right. Yuuri had taught him well, and he had a keen sense for details. He had to trust what the evidence had painted for him.

Minami’s mind flick back to the moment the call had come into Detective Lee’s cellphone. They had found DNA at the scene, but it was the detective’s reaction as the person on the other end continued to speak, the color slowly draining from his face. Minami could feel his own heart begin to pound unsteadily in his chest with each second that ed. Had they found him? Was Minami too late? The room slowly began to feel as though it were collapsing in on him as the detective finally hung up the phone and stood silently for a moment as a look of pity crossed his sharp features.

“What happened? What did you learn?” Minami demanded in a strangled whisper.

Detective Lee seemed to snap back to focus on Minami's question before quickly moving across the room. No response was given as he pulled Minami to his feet. Quickly he removed the handcuffs. Minami’s hands just dropped to his side. His body felt numb as the silence in the room weighed in on him. It was finally then Detective Lee broke the silence.

“We do not know if any of the others are alive or deceased.” He began in a low voice. “What we have learned is that some of the soil found in some of the samples from the scenes contain elements of sewage water in it. Additionally, large amounts of rohypnol were found in Chulanont’s system. They found what looked to be a puncture mark from a needle on his shoulder, but that was not all. They had also found some DNA under nails. They were able to identify it belonged to a female.”

A flash of lightning pulled Minami back from his thoughts. It had only been shortly after the call they had left to make their way to the city’s entrance into the main sewer tunnels. They were not used often, only during times of emergencies since the tunnels were primarily used to run off any additional rainwater. Like for a storm that's raging through the city now, but this also meant anyone in those tunnels were in grave danger as they would be filling up.

“You’re certain this is where they will be?’ Detective Lee asked as he turned onto the main stretch.

“It’s the only logical solution for why that soil was found on the tired treads on the scenes we could recover it from. Also, once we learned she had been drugging them that location is the only one that would work for her to be able to not only hide them but to also come and go without anyone noticing anything.” Minami responded quietly as he looked forward now.

“I honestly thought it was you.” Detective Lee replied ruefully.

“I thought it was you too with the mistakes you had made and then with your response tonight.” Minami said with a chuckle. “At least until this new information.”

A long moment ed before Detective Lee spoke again. “You were right, I made mistakes. I had not been sleeping well and the stress of how high profiled this case had become made me reckless.”

Minami glanced over to the detective as he quietly responded in a quiet voice, “We all make mistakes. You were partially right about me. There are times I am jealous of Yuuri. He is brilliant and able to see the world in a way I wish I could, but I would never want him dead or out of my life. He has become an essential part of who I am.”

The detective glanced over to Minami as he parked the car with a sympathetic look. “We’ll get him back alive.”

Giving a small nodd, Minami took a deep breath before throwing himself out of the car. Both him and the detective moved quickly through the rain as they cleared the entrance to the sewers. Minami remained a few steps behind Detective Lee once they were in the darkness. It only took a moment's hesitation before they heard muffled voices. Carefully, they moved towards the sounds.

“Yuuri?" Minami was right behind the other officers as they made with Sara. He could care less if he was waist deep in water.

“Kenjirou!" Yuuri called out upon hearing his name.

Hearing Yuuri call out his name brought a sense of relief. He helped the man up and carefully led him out of the water. He was drenched but at least they wouldn't drown.

Yuuri's legs shook as he was helped to his feet. He felt the ropes on his wrists release and the blindfold followed, a gentle hand on his waist for a moment brought him to reality. The commotion around him processing much slower than before. The lights from the Police flashlights felt blinding, he was still cold. It clicked then that this would be over in moments.

He caught soft brown eyes before finally taking in the full scene around him. Guns at the ready, Sara was surrounded. Viktor was helped up and in a sheer state of panic. An ambulance arrived, sirens blaring, offering no reprieve for the fading drugged mind of the detective. They hurried down and as quickly as they came Viktor was placed on a gurney and carried up to the flashing lights.

Cameras flashed as they took pictures of Chris's body. Yuuri frowned, his eyes turned to Sara who was screaming false narratives and claiming she was innocent. Her eyes caught Yuuri's as he'd leaned back gently against Minami holding his hand for a moment.

“It was you!" She screeched as she pointed at Minami, resulting in all the officers turning their heads.

Yuuri had already dropped the other's hand and their proximity could be explained by Yuuri being cold. It was then, as Yuuri looked into the cold brown eyes of Sara Crispino that it all made sense.

“Sara Crispino." He called out. "It was you all this time."

Detective Lee made his way over as he let the other officers handle the distraught woman. The scene itself was incriminating enough, he'd blame the drugs in his system for it taking so long.

“Jealousy. Stress induced mental break." Yuuri stated then turned to Detective Lee "I thought at first it was her brother, but I understand now it has been Sara this entire time."

“How is it her though?" Detective Lee looked confused despite the scene he'd witnessed before him.

“You only need to observe." He chided. "Sara Crispino has a history of flitting between lovers at her leisure. Once she became bored, she'd dump them for the next."

His sudden deduction caused immediate silence in the raven woman who was protesting arrest. "For some reason, she created this fantasy world within herself that I was in love with her. Like every victim here, I had brief interactions with all of them, Ms. Crispino included." He paused. "Since people do little else than begin rumours and talk for the sake of keeping things interesting, she focused on the people who had known connections with me, despite me never having been seen with any of them for extended periods. I rejected Sara once upon meeting her, for it is not her I have eyes for."

Yuuri paused. He'd likely given away too much of his own personal affairs then but it needed to be known for the truth to be revealed. "On the night of their birthday celebration, then Sara and her brother went to dinner, Michelle gave his sister a very expensive necklace."

“That evening, Sara staged her own kidnapping. Easy enough to do in the dark when no one is watching and there is no true struggle. You might wonder how Ms. Crispino managed to overpower both Mr. Nikiforov and Mr. Giacometti. Both of these men were familiar with Sara as we all were from their occupations and attendance at various social events. She called them over and began speaking before stepping close enough to inject them with Zolpedeim. In the case of Chulanont there was a second drug."

He sighed then. "When injected correctly the drug incapacitates the recipient and renders them unconcious. I went grocery shopping with the intention of preparing dinner for Kenjirou and myself. I happened upon Sara in an alleyway speaking with Mr. Chulanont. She had intended to kidnap him next, but me happening upon them ruined her plan. She injected the drug incorrectly. Phichit was injected in the neck. The result sent the drug into his heart too quickly resulting in his death. I was then incapacitated with the same drug in the arm and brought here."

“I knew when I came to I had been drugged based on the side effects." Yuuri turned to Seung. "Ms. Crispino is your culprit, Detective."

Detective Lee nodded and stepped over to the men who were restraining Sara. "Miss Crispino, you are under arrest for the murder of Phichit Chulanont, murder and kidnapping of Christophe Giacometti, and attempted murder and kidnapping of Viktor Nikiforov and Yuuri Katsuki."

Yuuri shivered once Detective Lee stepped away. Minami put a hand on each of Yuuri's shoulders and started directing him to the free ambulance. "Let's get you to the hospital." He whispered. The rain was still heavily falling, but the storm was ing.
