A heart-heavy sigh came from the gryphon reclining against the wall. His dim, run-down cave echoed with water dripping from further within, though he lounged on a pile of mushrooms and moss. He looked at a crumpled sheet of paper that had been haunting him all day.
His talons quivered as he contemplated it, reading it again for the hundredth time today. “Eviction notice.” It wasn't as if he wanted to live in this hovel. He chose this fate for himself, wanting to distance himself from the more talented of the community. His ear flicked as it swiveled back, wiping his eyes with the side of his foreleg, wetting it with the beginning of tears.
It wasn't as if he had much to pack, since he wouldn’t be writing anymore. Truth be told, he wasn't even going anywhere. Just not here, in this cave of comfort that he had relegated himself to. He looked over, at the rolls of paper that he had scrawled upon, reading their surfaces.
He knew he couldn't write Preen Before You Ruffle anymore. And this was the cave he went to for just those means. And he felt a sort of melancholy take his mind as he thought about it.
As beloved a series as it was, and for all it helped others (so he hoped, anyway), it had to end, as with all good things. The law of the land had been violated, and he had no choice but to abide by it from now on. With one final glance back at his work after standing, his leonine claws clacked against the stone as he wandered out into the bright world around.
“Guess I'll just talk to birbs instead.” He said with a nonchalant shrug. Checking his chest fur, and finding his aged leather pouch in place, he spread his grimy wings and took off for the water below. To wash his talons of his old business and begin an entirely new one.
So unfortunately, Preen Before You Ruffle was a series that meant the world to me. But it was brought to my attention that it broke guidelines. As such, I will begin doing narratives involving my gryphon, hopefully teaching the same lessons in a more demonstrative manner than simply spouting philosophical standpoints. So don't worry, you'll still see me around, I'm not going anywhere, just flipping the script so I'm in bounds as far as the leaders and curators are concerned. Thanks for helping me get this far, everyone who liked the series. And I'm sorry that it has to end. But don't worry, as I said a while back…
When one door closes, new ones open up.
And as always, have a great day, everyone.
