Weekly Photo Challenge: Meaning in Colors

Colors can mean a lot of things and hold a lot of significance for some people. They can present a lot and even in writing. I know that I, personally, will pick colors to fit characters when drawing or writing. Not always but i like the correspondence and symbolism.

Find some kind of imagery, drawing, painting, mood board, or otherwise, with a very prominent color scheme and write with that image and colors. Use their meanings in your piece. You can find meanings online when looking up specific colors.

You can use them based on what they mean culturally. I know that white is a traditional wedding dress in the US but in other countries (I can’t specifics off the top of my head) white is actually bad luck and not worn for weddings.

or

Take a book and either find colors to correspond with characters and tell us why they correspond or talk about the cover and it’s colors. Do the colors of the cover match with the themes and meaning in the story?

Example of a character and colors working together is the one I’m using in the gifs, Kilgrave from Jessica Jones.

TV show and comic book character he’s even called the “Purple Man” in the comics. He is always shown with purple clothes or skin. Though the purple skin is supposed to be from experiments done on him, the show he just wears a lot of purple.

Purple is the color of luxury, nobility, sensuality, and is a very lavish color. Fitting well with Kilgrave’s very indulgent and spoiled lifestyle. He gets whatever he wants when he wants it. He also thinks he’s quiet the ladies man.

i mean David Tennant is so very pretty and I love him so much but Kilgrave is spooky scary.
