Hello, dear community! I bring to you, your weekly challenge.
The idea sprang forth when I was walking through this store and realized all the promoted books involved dystopias. I used to be a big fan of dystopian novels but as I read more and got older I found a lot of the stories felt repetitive. Focused on young/teen girls. Includes a typical love interest or love triangle. Despite all odds this random teen saves the day from evil government that somehow stayed in power this long.
Not all are like that but the ones I’ve read thus far have held to that general structure. So I decided to challenge you guys to make dystopias.

For Writers
Write an excerpt in the daily life of your dystopia. Is it a dystopia thinly veiled as a Utopia? Do the citizens know it’s a dystopia? Do the people feel happy or feel anything at all?
Or write up a sort of “character sheet” for this place. Tell us about the government, the social structure and social roles, what makes it a dystopia, how it came to be (if it’s a future of modern society), etc, etc.

For Readers
Have you found any books that break or are far from the structure example I gave before? Tell us about it! Was it good or bad? Do you like the typical structures and plots for dystopians more?

I’m a big fan of technological dystopias, so implanted computers and things like that. I have several stories about that. I’m excited!
When you don’t and have never read dystopian books but wanna do this but know it’s gonna be weird cause you don’t understand it properlyyy
Lol it’s all good
It may introduce you to a genre you may love
I only read classic dystopias, like Fahrenheit 451, V for Vendetta or The Martian Chronicles, so all of them are different from the structure you just described.
Most of the YA ones are ridiculous. It's okay if you like them, btw.
Yeah, I meant YA dystopias, since that’s what I see most often and what got me into the genre years ago.
I loved Fahrenheit 451. But that’s the only dystopian I’ve read since I’ve stopped reading YA.
I don’t mind if people like YA, I’ve just grown to dislike the plot lines and cliches.
