Christmas Lights part 1

It was the night of Christmas Eve. The house was decorated with lights, trees, and decor all around. The centerpiece was a tall seven foot tall green Christmas tree in the living room. The tall fake green tree was decorated with a thick coat of ornaments ranging from balls to bows to homemade ones to the star at the top. The white lights made it seem like the tree was glowing from the inside. The old tree has been in the family for decades.

The family was the Kents. The family of five were happily sitting on the couch in the living room watching a cartoon. The father, Michael, was a tall man with an average build and a bushy black beard. The mother, Amanda, was a short woman a plump body and dark, long hair. The twins, Kieth and Rylie, were exact opposites of each other. Kieth was skinny with dark long hair while his sister was more round with rainbow colored short hair. The youngest was Rachel, only being nine years old, she was small and petite with hair similar to her mother’s.

When it was bedtime, they were all out to bed. Dreaming about what they want from Santa, with game consoles, ponies, and a new phone.

At around midnight, Rachel woke up slowly and saw something red coming towards their modest two story house. It appeared to be a large sleigh being pulled by reindeer. She quietly got up and slowly went to the stairs to wait for him to come down. She heard many hooves trotting on the roof, many that she knew off the top of her head. She waited for what felt like an eternity but was mere moments as soft footsteps went towards their large red chimney. The scuffling of ash and dust became apparent as two shiny black boots appeared out of the soot. It was Santa. She couldn’t believe it but had to remain perfectly still and silent. His sack of toys was over his shoulder and without a word, he scattered gifts under the decade old tree. He started on the milk and cookies. She was just in awe as it was the real Santa. Eventually, he went to our stockings. They were labeled with each of their initials, putting knickknacks and candy in them.

When he got to Kieth’s stocking, Santa took out a small black rock and eyed it sadly before putting it in the stocking. Rachel tried to hold on a laugh, but a squeak came out. Santa quickly scanned the room, then went back to the stockings. He eyes Rachel’s and took out another large, jet black piece of coal and put it in her stocking. Rachel felt nothing but anger, sadness, and regret.

She almost stood up to tell off the jolly old elf, but when he turned around, tears filled his eyes. It was almost like he didn’t want to give kids coal. He went back up the chimney and went back into his sleigh, leaving.

After a few minutes, someone else came to their house and she smiled slightly, thinking that it was Santa again but she noticed that the sleigh was as black as the night. Rachel was thinking that he might’ve made a mistake and that she wasn’t naughty.

Loud hooves interrupted her thoughts, the clacking getting louder as it reached the chimney. A ashy cloud surrounded the fireplace as a loud crash filled the room along with the sound of bells, small bells that could fit in the palm of Rachel’s small hands.

Through the cloud of smoke came two large horns, that were colored like candy canes but were of a darker shade. When the dust settled, the rest revealed itself.

The skin was a pale, icy blue, his beard was like Santa’s but was black, his nose was long and his horns were large. They could easily touch the ceiling of the twelve foot tall room. His body was humanoid in shape but animalistic in ways, his legs were twisted and ended in hooves. His tail was long and ended in a small ornament the size of a baseball. Everything but his face and palms were covered in a thick coat of fur. His teeth were as yellow as gold and were razor sharp. On his back was a basket made of straw and wood, a limp arm of a child hanging from it.

Rachel didn’t know it but she was face to face with Krampus. Krampus went to the stockings and took out the coal in Kieth’s stocking, then mine.

He sniffed it and had a wide grin, “Naughty, naughty children,” he said in a raspy but chilling voice.
