Hello Unifriends and welcome to the Lunar Magick Chatroom’s August SOTM! For this Month’s spell we will be strengthening our connection with the Moon. The moon is the opposite of our sun; the feminine opposite the masculine, the dark opposite the light. Connecting with the Moon helps us connect with its feminine energy. The moon also represents the light within the dark. Connecting with its energy can help us find our inner light.

I have listed all of the materials for this spell below. I have also included a few subsitions in case you do not have something listed. For our Broom Closeted friends, and others with no access to the listed materials, I have also included a *no* materials version. This version simply requires water! As magick is unique to each witch, this list is not set in stone. If you feel the urge to substitute or add something to make the spell your own, do it!

✦ Any Crystal you feel will help connect you with the moon.

Tip: If you lack privacy, a great place to perform this spell is the shower or bath. If you are performing the no materials version you can use the shower/bath water!

Preparation

Make sure you are in a place you won’t be interrupted. It is best to perform this spell with a clear mind. If you are using materials, make sure you have them in the space you will be performing the spell ahead of time. You do not want to interrupt your connection to grab something you forgot. If you wish to cast a circle, now is the time to do so. Then, using your incense or other cleansing smoke, cleanse yourself, your space, and any materials you are using. If you wish to invoke any deities or guides, do so now. This is the perfect time to work with any Lunar Deities.

The Spell

Materials Version

After preparing your space and invoking any deities and guides, it is time to place any crystals you are using on your altar or ritual space. As you place each one focus on your intentions for this spell. You want to imbue the crystals with that energy. Then light your candle to represent the moon. Again as you do this you want to focus on your intention of connecting with the moon. Then place your Full Moon Water, or other water (preferably collected from a natural source), into your chalice or cup. If you chose to use incense, you will want to your chalice through it as you focus on your intentions. Then, anoint yourself with the water. You can anoint yourself in whatever way feels comfortable, but it is common to anoint the 7 main Chakras. After anointing yourself, take a moment to meditate on your connection with the moon. When you feel ready repeat this spell three times:

I call upon the Moon,

To connect with me tonight.

Bless me with your Energy,

Fill my Life with Moonlight.

No Materials Version

After clearing your mind and preparing your space, it is time to begin the spell. Place your water in your chosen vessel. You may say a blessing or cleansing spell over it if you wish. Then, anoint yourself with the water. You can anoint yourself in whatever way feels comfortable, but it is common to anoint the 7 main Chakras. After anointing yourself, take a moment to meditate on your connection with the moon. When you feel ready repeat this spell three times:

I call upon the Moon,

To connect with me tonight.

Bless me with your Energy,

Fill my Life with Moonlight.

After Thoughts

After the spells’ completion take time to meditate on the energy you feel. Do you feel the Moon’s power? Has this strengthened your connection? Consider writing about your experience in your journal or BOS. When you are ready, it is time to end the spell. As you extinguish your candle, thank the moon. Then thank any other deities or beings you may have invited. If you cast a circle, now is the time to close it. If you can, let any crystals you used charge under moonlight after performing this spell.
