Heart and Honor

Greetings! This blog is going to be a short story about Jaime and what happens to him as well as what he feels after we see him leave King's Landing in the End of season seven. I also tried to explain the way Jaime sees the relationship between him and Cersei a bit and what she means for him and his life. I hope you enjoy and thank you for reading.

The sky was grey and covered with dark clouds. A cold wind was blowing and the leaves of the few trees along the path were shivering. Jaime looked up when a small, single snowflake was falling down onto his hand of gold, melting immediately after touching the metal. More snowflakes followed, slowly falling from the sky. Winter was here. In the North the snow was covering the ground the whole time, even during summer, but now the winter came for King's Landing. They could not hide nor fight. A sword was useless against this enemy, as was a shield and even the strongest walls wouldn't be able to stop the Winter.

Jaime's horse started to run, his gloved hands holding the reins thighly. Behind him King's landing could be seen, turning smaller and smaller as he rode away, and he didn't look back. He had left too much pain in this city. And he had left his love, but he would not look back. Cersei had been the love of his life Ever since they had been children they shared a special bond but she had betrayed him. The woman he loved more than than anything else had betrayed him and his heart felt like a stone. Cersei was his life and he knew that he could never let her go. She would always stay a part of him and haunt him in his most beautiful dreams.

Did he still love her? Jaime didn't know an answer to this question himself. Had he ever truly loved her? Had she ever truly loved him? Or was it all just an illusion. A memory of what once had been, a bittersweet dream of what they could have had. He sighed and his warm breath touched the air infront of him with misty hands. The man wrapped himself tighter into his black cape as he continued to ride, always following the path. He would head North but he wouldn't do it for himself. There wasn't anything worth fighting for in his life, but he would fight for others. He would fight for all the people he didn't even know the names of. He would fight for his unborn child, and he secretly knew that he would fight for Cersei, although it would be a fight he could not win, but he had to try.

If the eternal winter would make it to the South then there was no hope and this child Cersei was carrying... It should grow up in a world with hope, where honor, heart and home were no more. He closed his green eyes and the sharp wind was cutting into the skin of his face. He hadn't been riding for long now but with every step he came closer to the North more snow was lying on the ground. The once green, vivid grass had lost its colour and the few leaves still remaining on the trees were slowly falling down. He was alone on his way, but she would never truly let go of him.

Cersei. She would always stay a part of him, holding his heart in her hands. She used to say that love was like poison. A sweet poison, but it would kill you all the same, and maybe she was right. Jaime had grown addicted to their toxic love. He had tried to escape from her but he couldn't, she was his life and if she would die, then he would die with her. Perhaps he could leave her behind, but he could never let her go.

"We don't get to choose who we love"
