Greeting! In this blog I want to show you my take on the Asoiaf Adaptation Challenge and tell you more about how I would have turned the Books by GRRM into another adaptation, for example series, musical etc. I hope you enjoy it and thanks for reading! #ASOIAFAdaptation

First, I would probably stay with the adaption of the books being a TV-Show. In general it allows more detail than a movie and can deliver the extraordinary Character development in a great way if done right. Throughout the first seasons we see this done really well but sadly the show lost an immense amount of quality in the later seasons. Anyway, like already said should the adaptation of ASOIAF stay a TV-Show. The question now is who will compose the music, direct the episodes etc. Let's begin!

Music

While I really like the Soundtrack of GoT there are many talented Musicians out there. I like listening to fantasy inspired music and BrunuhVille and Adrian von Ziegler have created some of my favourite pieces. Their music can be found on Youtube and has a medieval-fantasy theme with many interesting aspects and especially Adrian von Ziegler's songs are unique. His works have a really strong and recognizable theme and I am sure he could create a theme that will be as much ed as the current one.

Brunuhville on the other hand can create songs that all sound different from each other but Still have subtle reoccurring themes. Furthermore did he already compose multiple songs inspired by GoT. I linked my favourite down below and I personally think that it transmits the atmosphere of the Riverlands in a beautiful way.

Furthermore would I really like to see Trevor Morris compose some of the themes. He already has worked for multiple TV-Shows and Games, such as the Tudors, Vikings or Dragon Age. Every of his pieces have a unique style that manages to convey the atmosphere of each setting. Like many other composers who work for Shows, Movies or Games does he have a main theme to work with and often has it appear again in one or another way in his other songs. This makes the soundtrack recognizable.

ｒｅｃａｓｔｉｎｇ

This one is my favourite topic to write about, to be completely honest. The actors are of course very important if you want to create a good TV Show or Movie and while I quite liked many choices I also have to say that some of them didn't really fit the character or their acting wasn't like I expected it to be. I want to divide this part into several sections and (re)cast some for each house. Of course this will not cover every character but just is supposed to show you who in my opinion could have played a certain one of them.

Targaryen

Let's begin with House Targaryen, in particular Daenerys. I know many people might disagree but Emilia Clarke never matched my idea of Daenerys and neither does her acting. I personally would have loved to see Tamzin Merchant take the role of Daenerys who by the way also was the original cast for her.

She is, in my opinion, a talented actress that can play weak characters but at the same time also portray their development of personality, just what is needed for Daenerys. Examples for this can be found in the Series 'Salem' where she is portraying Anne Hale who has a similar character development like Dany. Her acting in 'The Tudors' is remarkable as well and she also matches the more innocent and weak description of Daenerys and if not as her I'd love to see her as Jeyne Westerling.

Next we have Young Griff who I will count as a Targaryen here. Since we don't have an actor for his part in the original TV Show this will be more of a casting than a recasting. I personally could imagine Bradley James fitting into the role.

Although he might be a little too old he has good acting skills and we already have seen him in other medieval themed shows like 'Merlin', where he took the character of Arthur.

Stark

Next we have House Stark, namely Lyanna. We haven't seen much of her so I can't judge her acting but in my opinion Adelaide Kane would have made a good Lyanna Stark. I personally have only seen her acting in Reign and although I'm quite conflicted about the show does she, appearance wise, fit the image I had of Lyanna. Even some fan Edits use her as the Lyanna face claim.

Another fitting actress for Lyanna would have been Janet Montgomery. She has a more mature look than Adelaide Kane but I think that Janet could portray Lyanna just as well. She acts as the leading character in 'Salem' alongside Tamzin Merchant and has prooven that she can play a willfull female character that at the same time has her vulnerabilities. If not as Lyanna I'd also have liked it to see her as Ashara Dayne, although she doesn't actually is shown.

Tyrell

There are many Tyrells missing in the TV Show but I wanted to choose one to concentrate on. Willas Tyrell. I would have liked it to see Henry Cavill playing his part who also playes in TV Shows like 'The Tudors'. He is an, in my eyes, great actor that could very well portray the character aspects of Willas. He also would fit as Garlan but I personally prefer him as Willas Tyrell. What is to mention is, that many people see him as a younger version of Robert Baratheon in a possible Spinoff. While I agree with this choice I have to say that my take on a GoT adaptation of course focuses on the current state of Westeros and Essos, so if not as Robert, than I'd like to see him as the eldest Tyrell brother.

Greyjoy

Most of you probably already know that I don't really like the casting of Euron in the show and while Pilou Asbæk is a good actor isn't he fitting for the Role of Euron.

[C] I personally think that Mads Mikkelsen would make a great Euron he is able to portray the Haunting way Euron is described and has a very remarkable appearance. With a bit of costume building would he match the way Euron is said to look and his acting skills are also very good.

ｄｉｒｅｃｔｏｒｓ

This part was a bit more difficult, to be honest. I am not really familiar with many directors. I have to say that I actually liked the directing in many GoT Episodes so you probably will see some of the original Directors

being included in this list. One of them for example is Miguel Sapochnik . He directed the episodes seven and eight in season for as well as the last two episodes in the sixth season. The episodes that Sapochnik has directed have been some of the highest rated during the show's run and this definitely is partly due to his directing skills.

Next we have Neil Jordan . He is an irish Movie director, scriptauthor, Producer and writer. He directs the episodes of 'The Borgias', a historically inspired series. He can make scenes look very interesting and visually appealing. I especially liked the way he interacts and uses objects for his direction, for example to we see two scenes not divided by a cut but by an object in the foreground, like a wall or pillar, that is separating them smoothly from each other.

ｗｒｉｔｉｎｇ

While D&D did I relatively stable Job in the first seasons their writing lost what made Game of Thrones special after the show ed the Book material. For the writers I don't have anyone special in mind. From what we've seen are even many fans capable of creating something more logical and better than what they call season seven. Preferably GRRM himself would take the task of writing the scipt, but since he is busy at the moment the only whish I have for whoever is going to write this adaptation is, that they should stick to the source material. I know that certain scenes can't be portrayed exactly like they were described but they should stop cutting characters or giving plotlines to others. They should stop taking out the message GRRM intended to give us with his books. They should focus on the logic and on the story we already have. What I want is that they have the motivation and dedication that GoT used to have.

ｃｏｓｔｕｍｅ ｄｅｓｉｇｎ

To be honest, I really love the costumes in TV Shows and movies and think that they are definitely important to create the right atmosphere. Therefore we need costume designers that are able to portray the unique aspects of each region and Character properly. My suggestions would be Joan Bergin. She already has worked on series like the Tudors where she created beautiful dresses and robes as well as for Vikings. Each creation of hers fitted the setting very well and is, not to mention, full of impressive details. Down below you can see some examples of her work the Tudors.

Meredith Markwork-Pollack also is a designer I'd love to see working on the costumes. She created the dresses for Reign and while they might or might not be historically accurate are thwy extremely beautiful amd every person we see has a unique style. She also has a talent for accessories and jewelry.

Together they could create amazing dresses and definitely make the adaption complete.
