A Reign of Flames (Artwork)

Greetings, in this Blog want to show you one of the Artworks I drew. This time it's Deanerys (and I still don't know why I keep drawing her). I personally like to draw her surrounded by fire so you will see said theme again in this drawing. I hope you like it! The drawing took me about 4 hours and was created with Paint Tool Sai and a Graphic Tablet.

For the first step I started with drawing the upper part of her dress. I added shadows and lighting immediately since I had a basic image of what the picture should look like in my head. Then I drew her skin and face as well as the rough facial features like her nose. Furthermore did I draw a black glove over her hand to make the piece a bit more interesting.

To continue I added the missing parts of her dress like the skirt and the sleeves. For a more realistic look did I draw creases onto the skirt.

After this relatively short step I added more details and accessories to the picture. I started with painting a layer of white dots in different sizes which I copied and transfered to the sections where I wanted said dots to create the effect of shimmering silk. I also drew a silver Dagger into her right hand that is pointing towards the bottom of the picture. This is a symbolism for the kind of character Daenerys is in my opinion but I'll leave this up for interpretation. Around her neck I added a metal ring as a reference to her self-given title 'breaker of chains'.

To continue I finally drew Daenerys' hair and her more complex facial features like eyes and mouth. I also added more lighting effects as well as shadows to make the drawing look more realistic. For her eyes I chose a bright violet colour in the beginning but later lowered it's saturation because it contrasted too much with the more reddish theme of the artwork.

To finish the drawing I added flames in the background and some of them in the foreground, especially over her dress. Then I created a new layer where I drew lighting effects and shadows. I hope you like the drawing. Thanks!
