For best "game of thrones" player I choose:
Varys
The big choice here for me was between Varys and Littlefinger.

But why am I choosing Varys over Baelish here?
Truth to be told I always considered Littlefinger to be the smarter between the two of them.
And we know that the big game is between those two.
But I am choosing Varys because if we consider the final goals of both of them I think that Varys is closer to achieving his goal than LF. We know that Baelish's goal is to sit on the Iron Throne. And he did a lot he killed Jon Arryn, Joffrey, he won the Eyrie, he wants to make Sansa Lady of the Eyrie and of Winterfell and the marriage to Harry the Heir may give him that etc (you can check out in my blog about him) but actually at least for now we cannot see how this is leading him to taking the Iron Throne. On the other hand Varys:
1) Some think that Varys's goal is the wellbeing of the Realm and he is a Targaryen loyalist therefore he wants Targaryen rule which in his belief is the best thing for the Realm. In the show I think that this is the only possible idea for his goal.
2) Others believe that he is Aegon Blackfyre's(Young Griff/fake son of Rhaegar Targaryen) uncle as the brother of Serra Blackfyre. Which lead as to the thought that he wants his nephew on the Iron Throne and the benefits he will get of such turn of events.
Also him being a Blackfyre will explain the blood magic that is done to him. And also explains the help of Illyrio Mopatis and their years of scheming as he is believed to have been inlove with Serra.
Whether you are believer of 1) or 2), there is still one thing sure. He is really close to getting what he wants Targaryen(or fake Targaryen :joy: ) rule. What I mean is that with Varys unlike LF we can see actual results of his plan.
His friendship with Tyrion is also peculiar and probably part of his big plan especially if we consider the A+J=T theory.
I recently involved myself in a facebook page argument with a person from my country. I have to translate it order to quote therefore I will just summarise the important part. So he was a huge believer that Young Griff is not only the real son of Rhaegar and Elia but also Azor Ahai as he thinks that GRRM is doing a return to the Age of Heroes and Aegon is more of a hero type than Jon. So I wrote him many statements against that theory one of which was that Fake Griff is a good way for us to understand why Varys does what he does. And he replied that Varys is actually irrelevant and we shouldn't believe that he has a big part to play in the past events or the future ones.
I personally disagree with that. I think that Varys is actually a person who shouldn’t be underestimated. And sometimes I think that he keeps a low profile actually wants people to believe that he is not that smart. And maybe even GRRM wants us to think that LF is smarter and better game of thrones player but actually Varys is the master mind.
