A Star-Crossed Character Design

Greetings one and all. Welcome to my latest art blog. This one is going to jump around a bit. Star-Crossed is an AU that I’ve been working on for a while, but I’m not the only one working on it… and while it’s an AU that I am happy to share here on amino- it’s not being built for amino… Especially the parts I’m not building, even if like Patches’ mother here- I am the one deg the physical design of the character.

As such, there are some themes and events that generally won’t see amino. I’ll allude to them sometimes, in very vague, wishy-washy language, or very Star Wars oriented language. Zehl here is a character that due to her story- isn’t going to show up here a lot, and when she does it’s going to be highly affected by this.

I’ve also censor bar’ed the time lapse and cut a lot of it it out, because I don’t trust the amino mod-bots to not think I’m drawing something more adult than I am- extra especially with her skin tones.

That being said, while Star-Crossed is a Star Wars AU, it’s technically also an AU for another story of mine. Unseen. Unseen is a story that takes place in a similarish to D&D world. It has dungeons all over the place, and an adventuring school, and lots and lots of characters of a wide range of species.

In that story, Patches, is half sea-elf, and his mother full sea elf. So I built her Star Wars art/design off of her original design. Unfortunately, a lot of character’s lives drastically change in the conversion into a Star Wars AU, and often enough not for the better. Zehl, as she’s normally called, is one of the more unfortunate souls in the transition.

She doesn’t love her life. She does what she has to to get by, and has fallen into a job/trap that while isn’t technically a slave- is designed to keep you so in debt that you might as well be. She’s miserable for it, and lives her life in a s spice fueled haze.

This piece was a challenge. Because the idea was to make this brightly colored woman who wears bright and sparkly and… less than modest clothes- and make that not the focus, while also making the vibe sad and miserable.
