Heeeeello everyone, this is The RPG Monger ( no pls, no more quotes ), and welcome to a topic that it's related and a bit attached to the person I am.

A lot of people play Smash, for fun or not that's another discussion, and, how many times does your mother or your friend, after seeing you playing for 3 seconds, says : "You're just wasting your time, being good at this game will not help you outside of this house".

And how many times do you just spend 3 hours making a good blog only to post it and see that is getting 5 likes and 2 comments left by some level 3 s.

So after this, you think you should stop playing or blogging and invest your time into something else that is more productive.

Maybe you haven't realised it yet, but playing Smash or creating blogs is helping you with skills that later on in the business work and many other environments will be really useful ( if you don't actually spend ALL the time into these two things though ).

Let me show you some!

1) Elegance in Writing

Something that helped me, thanks to my blogging sessions, is how my blogs and texts look so satisfactory after posting them.

Most of them are still pretty smooth, clean and detailed even after years, not just content-wise but also about the style that I was using in that blog.

I some days during italian periods in school, there were essays to write and, to be honest, I still am pretty good at them comparing myself to my first years at school. Probably because I could talk about a topic that could catch my interest or maybe because I could mix my dialogue in whatever way I wanted, but I'm still good at them.

Anyhow there's something that in my blogs that in my essays is totally absent, is that thanks to my precise attention to the outlook with details such as the table of contents, putting some space after every paragraph and all the text separators, now my works are less heavy to read and I didn't have to memorize what to write that much.

These are little things I know, but it's thank to those little things that I didn't have problems organizing my speech or memorizing what to write or giving to my blogs that kind of aesthetics that left a sense of relax while reading them. And this skill will be really useful if you'll work for a newspaper, a magazine or if you want to write a book for example.

2) Reflexes and Short Time Decisions ( STD )

My smash/blogging skills that helped me irl #WBAT-[C]Heeeeello everyone, this is The RPG Monger ( no pls, no more quotes ), a

Here's a skill that I've improved a lot thanks to Smash. Many times in a local or a serious tournament, I had to make decisions quickly in many different matches I've played. There are some times, like the ones where I am against a good Bayo, where I would probably wonder to myself:

" Omg I'm getting comboed! What shall I do?".

So here's where my reflexes and my short time decisions skills come in handy. I know that reflexes and STD ( abbreviation for Short Time Decision, I don't want to repeat it that much ) are something you develop earlier in life by playing various games. But since in most of the games, unless you play COD or other online multiplayer FPS but that's another story, you have to play against the U, you'll find out that this kind of training helps into a certain extent and after finishing the game you'll find yourself without a game to play alongside with practice for your STD.

But with Smash, the situation is different: because not only you can see and interact with the players who cause to have more variables in mind to consider when making a decision, but because you can also structure your STD into more complex answers, it will definitively help you when you'll have an STD situation to solve.

3) Layers of Reads

But there's not only STD's to consider!

That's right, I'm talking about a more complex way of thinking that's set into a more future setting. I'm talking about something I call: " Layers of Reads ".

Now, this type of thought process has been already explained by the smashtuber "My Smash Corner", but for semplicity sake, I'll try to explain It as easily as I can.

If you create a strategy that can help you with a particular flaw you have for example, and somebody manages to create a counter to that strategy, you've created one layer of reads.

Bearing this in mind, it can help you create strategies that can put yourself into a good position during a match.

It's like rock paper scissors, where if you know that your opponent will go for rock and you decide to choose paper, but your opponent chooses scissors, that's a good use of the layer of reads.

This knowledge that I've personally improved thanks to Smash, can help you at work with management decisions or design Improvements or... everything really. I think this skill together with the STD skill and the next one I'll describe later, are skills that you'll need for every job and in every day life, too.

If there's something I really like about blogging or creating in general, it's finding or discovering new stuff. Whether it's a particular style of writing, TPL or implementing skits, It's always great to find new stuff you can implement in your work to try different styles.

The skill I'm talking right now It's the ability to learn new things everyday when you're working and experimenting them on your own. Many jobs nowadays only require to keep working on a single subject always sitting before a computer writing and writing all day. This happens with school, too. In fact there are actually scholar systems like the one in the Netherlands, where one can experiment the fun of learning without that much stress.

The fun of trying to experiment new things can be on the one hand less recognized and on the other hand asked to have in jobs nowadays. But it's really useful for creating new original creations and this skill will definitively help you in the long run.

And these were the skills that helped me in real life and, hopefully, will help you too. I hope you enjoyed this blog.

While making this blog, I recall so many memories that reminded me of what I've learned thanks to this website and my local Smash community, too.

This blog was really a source of emotions for me while making it because it reminds of how far I've gone to get here. It was like seeing me changing as the years ed by. I'm really happy of what I've been creating since the beginning of this "career" on Amino and even if sometimes I was pretty pumped up with work and lost motivation to write, too, every time I see what I've created so far, it brings me a smile of happiness and the motivation to continue, too.

Anyway, if you enjoyed it, to leave a like or a comment if you want to suggest other skills other than mines, and I'll see you guys next time.

This has been Cr3misis,

Thanks for reading :>

Being patient in games like smash and punch out taught me to be patient for the most part. And me not getting salty at some games made me not care about things that I knew I didn't really care about. Like losing a game of smash.
