May's Bone Box Goodies!!

I have ed my May 2019's Bone Box!! :sparkling_heart: :sparkling_heart: Here is the video :sparkling_heart: :sparkling_heart: :skull: ☠ :skull:

So, what was in this months box? Well the main skull and beauty of this box is another pheasant skull!!

The other oddity of this box? A Skunk claw!

While I have received a pheasant skull from The Bone Box before, I am not disappointed. This is only my first repeated skull, and you can see some differences between this new pheasant skull and my last one!

My guess is that one is a female and the other is a male of the species... But what are your guesses for the differences? 🤔🤷

The Common Pheasant

"The pheasant is native to Asia and was introduced in the 18th century. Pheasants are one of the most common gamebirds, along with quail and guinea fowl.

"This bird demonstrates sexual dimorphism with females in general being smaller and less colorful. Young pheasants are also less colorful which helps them avoid predation.

"They have very opportunistic feeding habits and are able to catch small mammals and reptiles when they are not eating seeds, grains, or fruit. They use their claws to dig out prey from the ground and can even dig through 12 inches of snow to find food in the winter.

"Pheasants can run to escape danger, or spring off of the ground into flight to avoid predators. Despite not being able to sustain flight over long distances, young pheasants can begin to fly at 12 days old."
