i have a terrible habit of calling myself out for "being performative" even when most of the time, there's nobody i'm even performing to!!! and that's insane right!!

anyway i do that in this poem actually

sometimes it's like

ceaseless ramblings into

an endless void.

write to that daydream,

that dreadful thought,

that boy.

sometimes it reminds me of

shitty instagram poetry;

inspiration porn.

words meant to be relatable

but they kind of just suck -

or they try too hard.

i hope i'm not like that.

god, i hope my words

never even find instagram.

i hope they stay safe here

in my sacred little temple

dedicated to nothing.

actually, scratch that:

that was me trying too hard

to be poetic.

my words are not sacred;

my notes app is no temple;

i know no prayer.

i'll add a bit more profanity
