IM BACK OH MY GOSHHH ITS BEEN A YEAR?

i dont know how i did it. i think i really loved doing my daily poems, i've got to get back to them STAT

this one is an old poem but i think one of my favorites, i think about it a lot. i've since given up on pursuing romantic love (for the time being) but i'm building up the queerplatonic polycule brick by brick. i need this guy in there, been in love with him on and off since before i wrote this one

good morning,

i imagine saying to you

as i sip cool water at midnight.

i want to be that guy that makes poetry feel like

a conversation on the porch at 5 am.

and i think of myself

10, 15 years from now

lemonade in hand while i look over at you -

i don't drink

never have

but something about your smile

tells me what it feels like.

we're catching up on life

and i tell you the same story i always say:

something about our school days

or some movie you wanted me to watch

or some person we both used to know.

do i bore you?

i hope i don't bore you.

you tell me a story you've told before

and i listen intently because i just like the way you say it.

i hang on to every word.

when a spider crosses the table you catch it,

set it free,

because you've always been brave.

i think i would like to be brave like that.

we take turns complaining about our love lives

and i think to myself

"if only i were a little braver"

but you make your intentions clear

and maybe those words are more suited

for our next reunion 5 years from now.

when the sun is up i will be blinded by truth

but right now i'm happy in these quiet sunrises.
