The Gleek’r and the Princess
i hath used to holdeth thee near, so true,
a gleek’r hath lost, a princess too—
two distant stars, a w’rld apart,
yet still, i did hold thee in mine own heart.
“i loveth thee, mine own beloved,” cameth
a whisp’r soft, too sweet to nameth.
so gentle w’re those tend’r vows,
coequal the windeth did dare not arouse.
“i loveth thee too,” the princess sighed,
clutching what the lady hath kept inside.
'gainst h’r chest, so closeth, so tight,
the lady did hold h’r heart through dunnest night.
two heads spun in a warming haze,
wrapp’d in comf’rt’s sweet embrace.
nay mask, nay coronet, nay feareth, nay shame—
just loveth, unspoken, yet the same.
the years hath moved on with quiet grace,
and timeth beganeth to taketh its lodging.
but anon, the tolling w’rds didst cometh:
“you’ll marryeth anon,” h’r fath’r did hum.
but lifeless w’re the w’rds that gent gaveth,
f’r the lady, anon free, nay longeth’r slave—
beneath the moon’s soft silv’r loom,
the lady ranneth hence from royal doom.
down to the riv’r’s edge those gents did flee,
with hands entwin’d and w’rds unsaid.
so pure their loveth, the stars did look down,
the angels gazed without a frown.
“i loveth thee!” cameth their joyous caterwauling,
as laught’r did dance beneath the sky.
those gents did lay in grass wh’re dreams tooketh flight,
in hush of catch but a wink and kisseth of night.
“i loveth thee so,” the gleek’r hath said,
with heart unmask’d and s’rrow did shed.
their voices base, their hearts sinc’re—
a timeless loveth, f’rev’r cleareth

The Gleek’r and the Princess
I used to hold you dear to my heart.
A jest and princess— worlds apart.
"I love you, my beloved" the words so gentle—
not even the wind dared to float them.
"I love you too" the Princess answers…
holding what they most found dear closed to their flesh.
Both heads spinning in a heated blanket
of comfort and peace.
No masks. No crown.
Only love holding them dear.
Years — days to come.
But soon your time will come.
"You'll be married soon" her father scolded.
But his words rang in dead years
as his daughter, now in love and under the soft gaze of the moon,
Ran towards the river
with their hands intertwined—
love so pure even the angels turn to gaze.
"I love you!" They cheered in unison—
a fit of laughter followed behind
as they sat in the sleeping grass of the night.
"I love you, so much… my dear…"
The jester whispered,
their love clear.
