Someone who is polysexual is attracted to many, but not all genders. This is not to be confused with other sexualities under the multisexual umbrella.

𝘊𝘩𝘢𝘱𝘵𝘦𝘳 2 ( history (not up to date)

Using the Greek prefix poly- meaning ‘many’, the term polysexual first appeared in the late 1920s. Before it gained traction as a recognised sexuality, it was used in the context of polyamory, which is the practice of having (or being open to having) more than one romantic and/or sexual relationship. As the term became established and widely recognised in the last few decades, that conflation became outdated as polysexuals are now understood to be entirely distinct from practitioners of non-monogamy.

𝘊𝘩𝘢𝘱𝘵𝘦𝘳 3 ( flag

The polysexual flag has three stripes, pink, representing attraction to women, green, representing attraction to non-binary people, and blue, representing attraction to men.

The flag was created by Samlin on Tumblr in 2012. They posted a design to the blog fuckyeahpolysexuality with the caption, "I, as a poly individual, was greatly saddened that we don't have a flag...so I made one :P I made it similar to the bi and pan flags, since they're all in under the multisexual umbrella -Samlin".

The flag has since been recognizable in the LGBT+ community as a symbol of polysexuality.

The alternative poly flag was designed by an anonymous wiki on October 21, 2020. It is designed to be easier on the eyes, while also maintaining most of the same meaning. In addition to the original stripe meanings, the lighter pink and blue stripes also represent a-spec ply individuals. The very light green (nearly white) stripes represents peace, as well as transgender ply individuals. It is intended to represent polyromance/polyromantic individuals, but if can be used for polysexuality as well.

➵bisexuality

❲          bisexuality is not limited to how many genders they can be attracted to, however a bisexual could be attracted to only two or three genders. polysexual is for most but not all genders.          ❳

➵pansexuality

❲           pansexual is the attraction to all genders equally without any care towards someones sex. someone who is polysexual is not attracted to all genders and they sometimes have preferences towards certain genders.           ❳

➵omnisexuality

❲          omnisexual is the attraction to all genders equally but they notice gender while pansexual does not {does that make sense?} so someone who is polysexual is not attracted to all genders like an omnisexual individual.          ❳

Polysexuality is on the allosexual spectrum, meaning opposite of asexual. It is also under the multi-sexual umbrella, which is a term that can be used by itself as well as a category for others that are attracted to multiple genders.
