"emb'rs of innocence"

upon thy neck, a tattoo lies,

a marketh beneath thine ope eyes—

so full of life, yet once so bareth,

so innocent, so unaware.

the w'rld doth seeketh a gentle kind,

but kindness, thee w'rt meanteth to findeth.

to loveth, beest did love, and still to seeth

the w'rld holds w'rth, though grim t beest.

and in thy handeth, a cigarette—

a quiet val'r ling'rs yet
