:clipboard: □ What was the topic?

It's all about Dyslexia

:clipboard: □ Why did you choose this topic?

As a teacher, I've encountered learners who have this type of learning style before(I prefer not to use the term "di*abi***y," but rather "style," because it is what my dyslexic pupils are proud to say). The parents showed their doctor's diagnosis, but our school lacked the knowledge to deal with them properly.

Even after being exposed to good language models at home and receiving good language instruction in school, people with dyslexia can struggle with spoken language. They may struggle to express themselves clearly or fully comprehend what others are saying.

One of my dyslexic pupils once told me that he sometimes hears people but doesn't understand them. He said he heard what they said but had to ask them again to repeat it because the context was too unclear for him and he was afraid he was misinterpreting it. It's almost as if he's a newcomer to a language, catching only the basic outline of what's being said rather than the concept.

:clipboard: □ Why does this topic need awareness?

There is no quick way to teach someone who is dyslexic. They should be given more time to learn with patience using systematic phonics in combination with a multi-sensory approach to help rewire the brain, allowing them to learn to read and comprehend what their friends, teachers, and loved ones are trying to convey.

This type of dyslexia awareness will assist those who face challenges to read in getting and accommodations as soon as possible so that they can grow and thrive. It would also imply assisting children and adults with dyslexia in developing self-awareness about who they are and what it means to be dyslexic rather than assuming they are incompetent. I want them to see the bright side of things by ing that many famous scientists, inventors, and influencers have had similar learning styles, but they have managed to cope and never given up.

:clipboard: □ If you are ionate about this, why?

I'm ionate about it because I've seen how my pupils struggle despite the fact that they each have unique abilities. I want them to know that they are truly gifted. As a teacher, I want to bring this to the attention of my colleagues, parents, and other learners so that they can better assist those who have this type of learning style.

That's all for this blog! Thank you very much for reading! Have a wonderful day or night! Til next time! :revolving_hearts:

As someone with dyslexia I appreciate this post. I’ve also been diagnosed with ADD & Auditory Processing Disorder and I at one point they considered teaching me to read braille. Thanks for making this post ^^
