Hey everyone, this time it's gonna be a little different from my usual stuff. I decided to start posting book reviews here, hoping it might also bring back my ion for reading since I used to be a BIG geek for books, especially dystopian, utopian, and sci-fi ones. So let's kick things off with our first guest…

-1984 by George Orwell-

:books: — 1984: a warning ˎˊ˗-[IC]Hey everyone, this time it's gonna be a little different from my usual stuff. I decided to start

First, a little personal backstory. This book is one of the few things my dad shared with me, and he was proud of me for understanding it back in high school, lmao.

Now, let's talk about what 1984 is actually about.

It's set in a dystopian world where the government, led by Big Brother, has complete control over everything. People are constantly watched, history is rewritten, and even your own thoughts aren't safe. The story follows Winston Smith, a guy who starts questioning the system and secretly rebels in his own way. But in a world where independent thinking is literally a crime, he quickly realises just how deep the government's control really goes.

When I first picked up this book, I was like,

Ugh, just another boring book, probably about the past or some shit. It’s old anyway, blegh.

But when I got into it, I REALLY got into it. Back then, I was kinda into political stuff, so let's just say this book felt WAY too close to reality. The way Orwell builds this suffocating world where you can't even trust your own thoughts? Terrifying. It made me think and made me notice things I wasn't able to before.

I was so obsessed with 1984 in high school that I reread it a couple of times, so much so that even my PE teacher commented on it, lmao. And honestly? This book isn't just a story; it's a warning. A warning that so many people ignore or straight-up refuse to see.

It just really shows what can happen when people don't stand up for themselves against oppression, especially in of government control.

Oh and man, Winston pissed me the fuck off sometimes, but as I kept reading, he started feeling more realistic and, to a certain extent, even relatable. When I read, I become the character and live the book, you know? So let's just say it wasn't exactly fun to experience, lmao.

It's not exactly a fun read, but it's the kind of book that sticks with you. It makes you think, makes you paranoid, and honestly? It kinda makes you wanna throw your phone out the window.

To sum it all up, I think it is a fantastic book everyone should read once in their lifetime. I feel like if I didn't, I would miss a lot of shit; not gonna lie. And if it seems interesting enough to you or you have been meaning to for a while, hop on; it's time.

I had an old neighbor recommend me this book. The way he talked about it made me all excited about giving it a go until I started reading it.. it ended up collecting dust for three years until I forced myself to read it :joy: hard getting into, but once you do, you can't stop! It's actually horrifying because I see this all already happening in the world today, just not too much "in your face". We are constantly being distracted by so many other things that most people don't realize that this is actually happening and has been for a long while.

I completely feel you, when my dad recommended it to me I was like "Mannn.. do I really need to.." and safe to say I couldn't REALLY start for a while.. But when I actually got into it, it was really good lmao xd

And honestly? I know right. People choose to ignore or don't even realise how similar the reality is to that book now. Especially in like the country I live in, TR, they are already watching X/Twitter and arresting people talking against the president etc so safe to say when I read this I was like "Well.. damn" lmao.

The fact that even mentioning TR giving me the paranoia of getting arrested cause this is like against the president, just like the big brother in the book, just proves how real this book is and that it ain't just fiction lol 🫠 Ofc there is NK but living in this situation and reading 1984 basically opened my eyes, not sure if for the good or the bad tho as being clueless is often enough a blessing lol :sob:

PS: Sorry if my English is fcked I'm sleep deprived and it's late lmao :sob: 🫶🏼
