She was everything in my eyes. She was the sun that awoken the horizons with a faint, golden glow like a halo an Angel would wear. Perhaps that’s what I seen in her — like she was the angel that slept through the night while, I, myself stayed up to watch the moon dance in the window pane. To watch the stars as they twinkled about, as if they were winking at one another. But what caught me the most, was how that pale light bursted through the windows and onto her skin.
Pansy sat there, in Gryffindor’s dormitories with a sleeping Hermione resting her head on her thighs with a book half open, abandoned to exhaustion that swept over her from late night studies. She looked so delicate, as if a gust of wind were to flow through the room, it would sweep her away. As if she were glass, and one single touch could break her — which left Pansy to ghost the pads of her fingers lightly across the other girls skin. “Who knew that a night like this would come.” She brushed a lonely curl behind her ear. “Who knew that a Snake could fall for a lion.” A faint thin mouthed smile wrinkled her lips, tears swelled in her eyes.
“Who knew that someone like me, who was so obsessed with bloody-purity had looked ed what was beneath the blood of yours.” These of course we’re just her whispered thoughts, not even a single movement from Hermione as she spoke them. Knowing very well that perhaps she’ll never know what she said. The woman before her had saved more than just her life, but her dignity as well. With just a single look, and all that was needed was a single touch for their souls to unite and take claims of one another.
Pansy stayed up originally, now there was a whole new purpose why she stayed up. It’s not that she couldn’t sleep because she knew very well that she’d be able too. No, it was because she didn’t want to miss a single moment of watching her while she slept. She didn’t want to miss that moment when her eyes first flutter open, wiping the drool from her chin and sitting up as her hair stuck up in different odd ways. Like a lion’s mane. Pansy missed sleep to whisper the sweetest of things, perhaps these things being she could never say before but hoped to someday, and so telling her them at night helped build up that courage that a Gryffindor has.
She missed sleep to touch her skin, tracing their future on the canvas. In that moment; Pansy didn’t even feel alone, even while Hermione slept, she knew that the silence was something she was grateful for. She got to listen to way her breathing sounded, forming small breathes and watching the way that her shoulders raised, and dropped with each exhale. Who knew what heaven felt like. Who knew if it was even a thing. All that Pansy was for certain about — Hermione was her angel, and every moment with her flushed her warm, as if they were in heaven. Like nobody else around them mattered, but them. As if everyone else had been blurred out, and they were sharpened.
“I love you.” Pansy whispered, a stray tear fell from its cage, slid down her cheeks and slipped along her jawbone before reaching the end of her chin to hang there for all of a second, dropping and being forgotten though her love was something that could never be lost. It’s like the love she had for Hermione coursed through her veins, and pumped around each memory in her mind. To give her a pinch that this was real, so surreal that it laid goosebumps to wake upon her skin. A gasp slipped her lips. This was her person, and all along she thought it was Draco.
Her eyes drifted towards the center of the room, as if she was letting them meet the lens of a camera so she could tell you all about him — Draco Malfoy.
He is nothing compared to what I feel for her. No matter the times him and I have shared, it doesn’t amount up to the capacity of the love that her and I share when our limbs are intertwined, and her hands are in my hair, while mine are at her waist. It could never amount to the times her lips warmed mine, and sent comfort throughout my skin. I’ve never felt safety with him, compared to when I am with her. She is my safe place, she is… my home.
Hermione stirred. Her legs uncurled and stretched out, toes curling and somewhere amongst all that there was a faint crack from her limbs popping. Her eyes slowly fluttered open right when Pansy turned her head back to the beautiful lioness before her. A smile spread from ear to ear, like she was a kid in a candy store, excited.
“Hey you.” Hermione spoke first, her voice was hoarse from sleeping. Oh, how Pansy loved her sleepy voice.
“Hi, my sleepy angel.” There was no sign of that stray tear that left her eye, though the only thing noticeable was the small creases of a smile forming.
“You haven’t slept yet, have you?” She questioned, and Pansy shook her head. A sigh from the Gryffindor before pulling herself to sit up. Her hair standing on ends, but yet so beautiful. “You can’t possibly be going all night without sleep, I simply cannot allow you too.” Her hands reached out for Pansy’s.
She raised a brow. “You can’t? And, why is that exactly?” She asked curiously, intertwining her fingers with Hermione’s and pulling the woman into her while she leaned her back against the arm rest. “I like to watch you sleep. Staying up is a time when I can ire you—“ Hermione went to interrupt but Pansy’s index finger met the others lips. “I can ire you without you asking what I’m looking at. Without you shying away, and letting that self conscious-ness seep over into that intelligent mind of yours.” Her head tilted to the side as she spoke softly. “I know how it can be, to see yourself, and then to look at someone else who sees you as the thing you do not.”
Hermione’s lips parted, there was a faint glistening in her eyes and it seemed like tears were just threatening to break through. To make a run for it. Her breathing became shaky, and that’s when the tears slid down. Her hands moved to their own accord, thumbing away the tears. “Sh…” shaking her head. “You are beautiful, Hermione. I am not just saying these words to get into the sack with you— you are something incredible, something unique, and I know…” She looked away, closing her eyes as if to catch her own thoughts. “I know that I haven’t been the greatest to you in the past, and I’m sorry. I am so bloody sorry.” Apologies leaked from her lips before she brought her eyes back to the Gryffindor Princess.
“But I know one thing is for sure.” Pansy started, pausing to let her hands cup around the woman’s cheeks. Her thumbs rested more towards the corners of her lips while some fell over her jaw. “I fancy you.” She chuckled, once. “I fancy you quite a bit. I never knew what love was until I had you. Until I felt the fire in your heart come alive in your eyes. Until you set your eyes on me, and my skin suddenly feels ablaze.” She paused to take a breath, but doesn’t break the strong hold of eye . “I love you.” She tossed her head back slightly, shrugging her shoulders before bringing it back down as if letting her love to be known was a terrifying thing and she was holding her own tears in chains.
“I am in love with you. I will tell you I love you until the day where I no longer exist here. I will remind you how beautiful you are in my eyes, even when yours deceive you.” She tilted her head to the side all for but a moment before leaning in, pressing her forehead again Hermione. “You are my Redemption.” Her lips pressed to Hermione’s, turning her head to the side in order to deepen the ion in her kiss. To express her love with an action after sharing with her words. Hermione’s hands lifted to lay across Pansy’s on her hands.
“I love you too, Miss Pansy Parkinson.” Hermione whispered against her lips, a ghost of their breathes spread along their faces from close , but this time… Hermione silenced Pansy with another kiss. A kiss of a Forbidden love, that… wasn’t so Forbidden. Because… it felt like heaven with her.
