╳ Introduction ╳

It looks as though I am back for another blog. This’ll be dedicated to our sweet underrated Ravenclaw ladies! Yes – you heard that right. This blog will be all about the ladies this time. I’m actually very excited about this one, and I can’t wait to see what you lovely readers think of what I’ll have for each individual. I had a rather busy weekend, so I wasn’t really able to continue on with the underrated series but I had some free time tonight to whip this blog up and into shape for you. Wow, I thought the underrated Slytherin’s and Gryffindor’s I was excited about, but this one might actually top that. Not entirely sure just yet.

For the underrated series: Ravenclaw – we will be diving into Cho Chang, Luna Lovegood, and Myrtle Warren (Moaning Myrtle). I originally wasn’t going to do her because she’s an adult, and I’m doing students but since she died as a student, she still counts, right?

Also, just another sidenote here: I’ll be basing this blog off the movies as I have yet not finished the books. (I'll be starting on Chamber of Secrets soon)

Well, either way my darlings. Let us begin!

━ Cho Chang━

Where should we start firstly. Well, despite what we see on the outside where she seems all shy, quiet and more reserved unless it’s with her friends. She was actually someone who had ed into Quidditch as a seeker, now to me? She doesn’t actually look like someone who would be into playing Quidditch, but only to watch. So, I think that’s something that’s quite interesting. I believe seeing women play a Wizarding sport that usually ‘men’ play is something really cool, and different. I’m actually glad that they allowed girls to be able to play for their teams, and weren’t picky about women being in that sport simply because they’re a woman, and that’s something they’re ‘not supposed’ to be doing. They’re ‘supposed’ to do their work, be pretty and so on. But no, we’ve got women in Quidditch (or, any sport for that matter) who play well, and do great for their team. Not to mention, she’s the only girl from Ravenclaw who plays as a seeker in Quidditch. That’s saying something. You go Cho!

Now when someone asks another person for a favor, for instance when Harry had asked Cho to the Yule Ball. Some people are sweet with turning someone down, and there’s those who wouldn’t be sweet and or rather just walk the other way but for our sweet Cho, she stayed, and apologized. She knew her manners well, and that’s something that I think is important because we’ve got those who do not, and got those who do. It’s irable when people show sympathy, or care in any way possible.

We all already know that her and Harry had a little moment together. Hold up! Can we just sit and talk about that for a moment? The kiss between them (in my eyes) was something so awkward, none of them put their arms around each other. I mean, don’t get me wrong, I know how it can be when having your very first kiss. You don’t know who’s going to be the first one to lean in, or what if you both accidently lean in and instead gnash your teeth together? Or, maybe you accidently catch their lip. So, yes, I get it. It was slow, awkward, and not at all ionate. The only downfall of that kiss was, she was grieving over Cedric Diggory’s death.

That is one thing that I did not like, when you’re grieving over someone whom you held close to your heart. It doesn’t mean to go and find comfort in someone else right after, you’ve got to learn to grieve properly. Otherwise, it can turn into something like Dependency and that will not help the relationship blossom if that happens. Yes, you can go too someone and have that shoulder to cry on, or be able to talk too. But it never should have turned out the way that it had. I mean, I suppose teenagers in that time era might not understand of such things that us, this generation would. Don’t get me wrong, they were absolutely cute for the short while that they had... ‘dated’?

Now as time went on, and Lord Voldemort had come back. Cho went against her parents' wishes in order to Dumbledore’s Army which of course, was held by Harry, himself which was one of the reasons why they had grown close to one another in the first place. Just to know that she had skipped her classes, went against her parents' wishes to learn spells that their Professor at the time (Dolores Umbridge) wouldn’t allow. That’s something that cannot go unnoticed. Because she looks as though she’s someone who would most definitely attend to all her classes, even if it was Umbridge who was teaching.

Cho did not fight when the Death-Eaters that infiltrated the school but was present outside in the Courtyard with Dumbledore’s Army. But she did show her loyalty by gathering up other of Dumbledore’s Army and dueled their ways. Which, I understand why you’d want to wait until last minute to fight. Because, who would want to fight a group of Death-Eaters by yourself? Would you? No, I don’t think you would. Because granted you’d be able to knock a couple back, someone would surely sneak an attack in and have you gone before you’d even know it.

In your opinion, do you think that Cho is an underrated character or overrated? How do you feel about her? What do you think happened to her after Hogwarts?

━ Luna Lovegood━

Now we’re getting into someone who is one of my favorite characters within the Harry Potter Fandom. There’s just something about her that is so unique and different compared to the others. She’s sweet, soft-spoken and rather smart. Yes, she’s weird but honestly who isn’t weird in their own little quirky ways? We’ve all got something that just makes us, US.

I picked Luna as an underrated character because so different from the witches and wizards who are actually overrated. She sees things that others cannot, and thinks differently than what most of you would normally see. How on earth can she be so loving when talking to Harry about the Thestrals and the only way on being able to see them is if someone close to you died. She, lost her mother and she was able to speak of it so easily. To lose a parent, I feel like it wouldn’t be just that easy to not want to cry over. Maybe that’s just me.

To know that Luna got ‘bullied’ right off the bat by Hermione was irritating, every time I see that scene when she’s introduced and they’re all in the carriage. “This is looney-” And right after it comes out of her mouth, realizes her mistake. I literally disliked Hermione after that scene for so long until I got over it. But it was just rude, and yeah some consider her of someone in a Looney-bin but she is so much beyond what people think of her. She is the type of friend one wouldn’t need to protect at all costs because she doesn’t care what others think, I mean, come on? They take her things from her, and hide them all around the castle. But she didn’t care, she just said that soon she would need them back.

If you know someone who is like Luna, different. Please keep them close to you and respect them at all costs, because I promise you that they are so worth it, even if you think that they aren't. There’s just something about someone who can make their own clothing and jewelry. I think that’s something really cool, and if I were in the Harry Potter Universe... I would absolutely wear anything that she made. Even if (to others) it was weird. Fun Fact: the actress who actually played Luna Lovegood – made her own things for the character.

Luna was someone who believed in odd things? To be quite honest here, don’t we all believe in odd things? There are people who believe in fairies, and fairy rings. There are people who believe that they can light a candle with just their energy if they focus it enough, who believe that they actually have magic. We’ve got our witchy people who believe in Tarot cards, or Pendulums for answers. There’s some who even believe in their spells, hexes, or charms that they make. We are odd people, and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. I believe that we can all relate to Luna a little bit. I know I do, one hundred percent.

I’m sure you’ve all noticed how Luna has always been someone who is soft-spoken, but that moment when Harry goes looking for the Ravenclaw Diadem he is running all around the castle, and Luna is chasing after him. He’s in such a rush that he just brushes her off like she was just someone in his way (not cool) but then she has this voice, that just comes out of nowhere and it’s that type of voice you have when you want to truly get someone’s attention. I’m not sure why, but that scene always gives me goosebumps because she’s serious and you can hear that in her voice. All she wanted was to help, and he just continued running. But, even when he finally stopped to actually listen to her – she helped him, and told where he needs to go in order to find what he is looking for. The girl with the soft tone, became someone with a voice.

Became someone who wanted to be heard, and was finally listened too.

What was something that you absolutely loved about Luna that other people you know did not? What do you do for those people who are your friends (that are like her) when they’re being teased for being themselves?

━ Myrtle Warren━

This part of the blog might be a tad shorter, though I’m not absolutely sure just yet.

Myrtle Warren – also known as Moaning Myrtle. She was actually a Muggle-born witch who was killed by the Serpent of Slytherin under Tom’s orders. So, that lead her to being a ghost who haunted the second-floors girls' bathroom (of course other bathrooms in the facility as well).

I picked Myrtle as an underrated character because I don’t think anyone would actually pay attention to the things that she has actually done for the Golden Trio and even Draco Malfoy himself. You see, she was the one who had a book thrown at her (Tom Riddles) Diary to be exact, and when Harry came to question it, she went into explanation about the bathroom sinks. Which, she could’ve been someone whom just minded her own business but I guess she saw fit to help Harry Potter when the moment came.

There was another time after the first Triwizard Tournament when Harry went to go take a bath in the prefect's bathroom. He wanted to figure out what the riddle was within the Golden Egg since Cedric had suggested that he figures it out, though when he opened it. Letting out that piercing screeching sound he ended up having to close it. But low and behold; Moaning Myrtle comes into the bathtub, swoons in next to Harry and makes him all kinds of uncomfortable. Which, let me tell you... at times when she did that, she did an amazing job because even I, felt very uncomfortable and I’m not even in the movies! She found out through Cedric on what to do with the Golden Egg, and thankfully shared it with Harry to help him.

No matter how annoying she could be towards the Golden Trio and other students, she was always there for them even if it was something that irritated them because she would do things like swooping through them, or fake crying/moaning. She was dramatic as any ghost could be, and I love her nickname that came with it all as it suits her well.

Let’s move on to the moment with Draco Malfoy, when he went into the bathroom and ripped off his jumper because it probably felt as though it were suffocating him, and making him all hot because that’s what anxiety and other problems make you feel. I didn’t see this part in the movies, but I heard about it and I just wanted to include it in because I think that’s important for the underrated Myrtle Warren. She was there for Draco when he was at his lowest, she was always there when he’d cry about something (whoa, yes, Draco Malfoy has feelings) He was as well being bullied as much as some don’t want to believe or whatever. But Draco confided in her, telling her all about the failed attempts of trying to kill Professor Albus Dumbledore. She comforted him either way, and there was a part of her that felt like she could understand him despite that their situations were completely different.

All in all, she was there for people even when they didn’t want nor need the help and I think that is something that needs to be appreciated. Because they had someone, even if it wasn’t a real person.

How do you feel about Moaning Myrtle? Do you find her someone to help others because she wants to, or simply because she’s lonely?

Whelp. I believe that you have made your way to the end of the blog. I hope that you enjoyed this as much as I did making it. There’s just something about these three women that I am ionate about. I want to take a minute to thank each and every one of you who have taken the time out of their day/night to read this. This is a part of the Underrated Series, and soon it’ll be coming to an end and I’ll have to get some more brain juice to figure out what I may want to make a blog about next but for now; I hope that you’ve enjoyed this. I have stated this before, and I am saying it all again as it is important to always . Whether in my blogs, or anyone else’s. These are our opinions, I am entitled to my own opinion, as much as any of you are. That is something that you should never forget! Do not comment if you are only here to rudely criticize my work, I put a lot of time and work into this, as the Underrated Series is something I’m ionate about. When you rudely comment something on anyone’s work, it actually hurts them even when you think that it doesn’t. Treat people as you wish to be treated.
