As some of you guys know I purchased a "new" rear bumper from a salvage yard recently. Today I brought it to a local body shop for a quote and I thought the price he gave me was pretty high. The "new" rear bumper does have some surface scratches so it will need some prep work and of course it needs to be painted to match my car. Anyway in total I was quoted $400 for them to paint and mount the "new" rear bumper.
Shown below:

While I was there I also had them look at my front bumper which needs a few repairs. For this he quoted me $300 which I didn't think was too horrible but still pricey.
Current state of the front number shown below:

For everyone who knows anything about body work
Do you guys think this is a descent price for doing that work? It does include a lifetime warranty, so as long as I own the car, that work is guaranteed to hold up or they will fix it for free. Please give me your opinions because I'm really trying to get this work done soon.

It's tough to say my xB is quoting the insurance company 21$ and hour for labor alone, and paint 19$ an hour..
See they told me it would be about 2.5 hours in labor and about 5 hours total in paint/clear coat. However he did say that paint is the expensive part.

My shops rate total would be 147$ not including tax and paint. So figured tax and paint I can see it being close to that 400$

Got ya. I've never had any type of body work done before so I had no idea how much I would be looking at. Based on these comments though it seems like the quote I was given is pretty spot on.
Sounds right. Least based on the accidents I was in, the price is in the ball park.
Sounds about right for the price of a painted bumper. Sometimes you can get pre-painted ones off of eBay for a hundred or so dollars cheaper. Just have to give them your paint code, of course
Thanks! I've never had any body work done so I had no clue if it was a descent price or not.

No problem! Usually the plastic bumper covers will run around $280+ depending on the car and color etc. Like others said, too, if you can find one that's the same color and in decent shape from another (or same) junk yard scoop it up and save this one as a back up or re-sell :+1:
You may be better off doing it yourself I'm going to have to do that when I find bumpers for my car. Since I need front bumper rear bumper and drivers side fender repainted.
I thought about doing it myself I've just never done any type of body work. Maybe I'll look at some ChrisFix videos.
