When buying a used car, what influences your decision more, mileage or age? I know for most people it’s a combination of the two, but what would you say is more important to you?
Mileage vs Age.

For me its definitely mileage every car has a limit such as the eco boost 3.5l engines 140k ish your puting turbos on it and a timming chain. The old chevy trucks 5.3l at about 250k its probably going to smoke a little and need some pistons or at least rings.
Mileage if I’m going for a daily driver. If I’m going for an old classic I really want, it’ll depend on what year. Eventually I’ll throw a new engine and trans in her
Don’t really matter to me only really matters if it’s been beat on and unmaintainted or not if it has high miles but a good history of recent work it doesn’t really bother me
Mileage until it gets past 20 years.
Pre 20 years mileage tells most of the story. Just simple division if its been only 1 or 2 owners. Gets sketchy after that. After 20 years mileage doesn't mean as much. 300,000+ miles could be new engine and trans. New ing items like fuel pump and radiator etc. Thats when I start wanting to do purely mechanical checks like compression and spark etc. If it runs well for a long time then great. If not was anyone really surprised? Lol
The most important thing to me when looking for a car is if there is any rust, or frame damage. Mileage and age don't matter much since I usually can fix most problems with my cars
