Any of y’all have 5.7 rams? I’ve driven a couple that belong to other people and am considering buying a lower trimmed 2017 5.7 probably a 2wd, wanted to hear some opinions

Only thing ever done to it was a trans rebuild cause there was a huge hole in the pan leaking fluid out until it only had 2nd gear lol
My dad has an 07 1500, been running since it was new and has almost 400k miles on the od. It doesn't even have the hemi tick or lifter tap, but these trucks like to rust a lot in the bed and in the door sils but that shouldn't be much of a problem for a newer model
I is scared of buying dodge
I drive one almost every day, lifters tapping the whole way haha. It actually gets great gas milage to,it's a 03 2wd crew cab truck. Could only imagine the milage it would get if it was a single cab.
Yeah gas mileage is what’s making me consider it, my uncles got the truck rn and he’s getting 24 mpg on the highway, my car doesn’t get but 27. My dads running a 4wd with the 5.7 but gas mileage numbers from him are pointless cuz he stays on the 105 mph limiter. I’d rather get a small truck but no ones made a decent one since 04 there aren’t any in my price range less than 20 years old that can match the gas mileage of the ram, plus the hemi hauls ass in comparison.

Yea they are pretty quick even in them big trucks. We race his truck on the streets almost daily,it's just in our blood haha, but it actually beats quite a bit of stuff that you wouldn't think it would beat. It's eaten up a few mustangs haha

Yeah if I buy a half ton I’m definitely going Ram but right now it’s just an idea it’ll be a while before I go through with it
I don't own one, but I work on a lot of them. Just keep the oils changed with the correct oil and keep up with maintenance and those truck will go for 300k and more easily.
