Shifting · What is it?

Reality Shifting, often shortened to Shifting, is defined as the act of your consciousness becoming *aware* of another reality.

One of the older definitions of this was "to *move* your consciousness to another reality", which doesn't exactly make sense due to the the fact that we are experiencing multiple realities at once. It implies that we're only experiencing one reality at a time, and that every other reality "stops" until we go there.

Think of it like watching TV. Let's say that right at this moment, you're watching Ben 10 on Cartoon Network while Every Witch Way is airing on Nickelodeon. Just because you're on the Cartoon Network channel right now doesn't mean Nickelodeon has completely stopped airing; They'll still be running their shows normally. All you have to do to watch Every Witch Way is change the channel.

It's the same thing with shifting. Just as you're experiencing this reality right now, there is a version of you experiencing another. All you need to do is become aware of that by "changing the channel" via the intention to, along with methods, if you like to use those.

Shifting · Common Misinformation

First and foremost, shifting is NOT and does not do the following things: Lucid Dreaming, Maladaptive Daydreaming, Astral Projection, Witchcraft, Invites Demons, Hallucinating, Against Any Religion, Dangerous, S*ui*ide, Psychosis, Causes Seizures & Comas, or Schizophrenia. These are just completely false, and saying it's just one of the two (or more) mental health conditions is extremely harmful to those who actually have them.

Now, let's get into the common misinfo that's spread about shifting.

"Shifting is draining."

Nope. Nothing in your CR is connected to any other reality in any way, so if you shift to a DR and do a ton of workouts, your CR body will not be affected at all.

As for it being mentally draining, it's possible that you may get overwhelmed by shifting multiple times over and over again with no breaks in between, but shifting itself is not mentally draining.

"You can get stuck in your DR."

Absolutely not. You cannot get stuck in any reality whatsoever. As long as you have the intention to go back to your CR, you will go back.

"You can't shift to a reality where ___."

You can literally shift wherever you want. Literally wherever. Do not let anyone dictate where you want to go unless you're going somewhere that is obviously going to be traumatic & you're truly wanting to experience it without scripting anything for safety.

"People that do not exist here ("fictional characters") are shifting to this reality as themselves."

When you shift to another reality, you're becoming aware of the version of you that already exists there, the key word being *exists*. Since people considered "fictional characters" in this reality do not have an actual physical body, they cannot shift here as themselves.

However, they are able to shift to an alternate version of this reality where they do have a physical body.

"You don't deserve to be / go or belong where you're shifting to."

You deserve to shift to your DR just as much as the next, normal person, so do not let anyone else tell you otherwise.

"You can't have big / short time differences because they'll drain you."

No. You can have whatever time differences you want, and we'll get into that more in the scripting section.

"You can only stay in the reality you're shifting to for ____ amount of time."

Nope, you can stay in your DR for as long as you want. Nothing bad will happen if you stay there for a week or 10.

"I saw a story about someone shifting and their DR person said they came out of nowhere / disappeared!"

Unless they truly scripted to come out of nowhere or disappear on their first day, this is just not true. You already exist in the realities you shift to; You're only shifting your consciousness's awareness, not your entire physical body.

(Insert literally anything about it being impossible to shift, permashift, or respawn anywhere with the intention to.)

You can literally shift ANYWHERE as long as you have the intention to. Yes, it is possible to shift somewhere random or the wrong DR on accident, and to be completely transparent with you, I'm still not fully educated about why it happens. Do not, and I mean, DO NOT LET THIS SCARE YOU. Your intentions, thoughts, and emotions are extremely powerful, and as long as you put that energy towards the intention to shift to your DR, it will happen without fail.

"You can bring *insert item* and pictures back to this reality specifically from your DR!"

Unfortunately, you cannot do this. Like I said earlier, your DRs are not connected to your CR in any way at all, so nothing would transfer over here. Now, if you were to script for these things to happen when you shift back, you would simply shift to an alternate version of your CR where this is possible.

"You need to have symptoms in order to know you're shifting."

No, many, MANY people have shifted without any sort of symptoms, this just isn't true. You don't need any symptoms to shift at all.

"You have to take breaks when shifting, but be careful, because taking a break or stopping for too long will reverse your progress!"

Absolutely not. First of all, you don't have to take breaks, it is just recommended. I advise for you to take a break if you notice these things happening to you:

You've started neglecting your life here, you experience extreme negative emotions when waking up after not shifting, your sleeping patterns have drastically changed (in a bad way) because you're only focusing on shifting, you start becoming desperate / pushy for readings or advice about progressing on your journey, or your mental health has declined rapidly because of shifting.

Secondly, nothing will hinder your shifting progress, especially if you take a break. If anything, a shifting break does more help than harm, and it can really help you figure some things out or just take time to heal.

"It's easier / harder to shift to ___ than ___."

Every single reality is equally easy to shift to. There are no set of "difficulties" when it comes to shifting, so this misconception is just completely untrue.

Shifting · Shifting, Permashifting, & Respawning Differences

First of all, let's get into what permashifting and respawning are. Permashifting is shifting to a reality and choosing not to come back to your CR *permanently*. Respawning is the act of cutting ties with your CR and permanently shifting to a new one.

Both permashifting and respawning are COMPLETELY SAFE.

Yes, there are multiple ways to respawn that can harm your CR body (SCA, S*uicide), but most respawners choose the deathless route. It is none of your business how someone chooses to respawn regardless; You have no idea what could be going on in somebody's life, and you have no right to dictate their choice or try to change their mind.

With this in mind, it's important to know the differences between each one:

With shifting, you come and go between realities as you please, but you aren't choosing to not go back to your CR permanently. When you permashift, you are choosing to shift to a reality and not come back to your CR permanently. If you want to go back to your CR though, you can. As for respawning, you cannot shift back to your exact CR after cutting ties with it.

You can shift, permashift, and respawn as many times as you'd like as well, so if you want to respawn back to your CR, set the intention and do it.

Shifting · Groupshifting

To put it in a simple way, groupshifting is intentionally shifting to the same reality as one or more people. All you really need to do for this to work is to have the intention to shift to the same reality as whoever you're shifting with.

If you're planning on scripting the reality you're groupshifting to, you'll need to have the exact same info on the script*. Keep in mind that it's recommended to have the same time ratio, although I'm pretty sure you do not have to.

*By this, I simply mean that you guys just need to make sure you're on the same page. Your script does not control your desired realities, so it's fine if you guys barely script at all!

When it comes to the actual act of shifting, all parties involved would just shift the way they normally do when doing it individually; The only thing that changes is the intent, which is to shift to the same reality.

Mindset · It's Okay to Have Doubts

Your mindset is one of the most important factors when it comes to shifting, but this doesn't mean that it has to be perfect. Most, if not, all shifters have had a period where they had tons of doubts and limiting beliefs when it comes to shifting, but instead of acknowledging them and refusing to let them be affected by it, they wallow in these beliefs and give in to them completely. THIS IS NOT OKAY. Everyone has doubts, especially when it comes to something as amazing as shifting. It is not, and it will never be bad to have these limiting thoughts about it.

Mindset · Being Honest With Yourself

Toxic positivity can be the biggest mindset killer. It is so, SO important to stay honest with yourself throughout your journey. Are you feeling upset about where you are? Are you jealous of those who have already shifted? Do you think you deserve to shift? Do you really think the method you're using to shift works for you, or are you just using it because other people havs shifted with it? Be honest and accept it. Lying to yourself and invaliding your feelings and thoughts do you anything but good.

Mindset · Believe You're Capable

The only thing, and I truly mean it, the only thing you absolutely need to believe when it comes to your journey is that you can and want do it. It sounds super corny and cliché, but it's completely true. Think about it. In every shifter's success story, how many of them shifted on accident? How many of them put in absolutely no effort whatsoever? How many of them had a horrible mindset and just wanted to shift? A lot of them, definitely.

Now, notice how all of those people either a. believed they could shift with all their heart in that moment, or b. had that belief & used all the emotion they had built up to put it towards the desire to shift? Probably all of them.

You don't have to have the absolute, perfect mindset (It's okay to have one by the way! I'm not saying you shouldn't work on your mindset at all because it helps a ton to do it.) or get rid of all your doubts and beliefs to shift. You just need to believe you truly want to do it & that you're capable of doing it. If you think that shifting is "unreachable" (Which, it isn't.), believe that you're worthy of achieving / winning that "prize".

Imagine you're standing at an open door with a ribbon tied on it (Yes, like a finish line!) between your CR and your DR. You're standing right in front it, a pair of scissors in hand. The only thing standing between you cutting that ribbon and crossing over is YOU. Not any CR outside forces, not any higher being, and definitely not the multiverse. In reality, you're truly such a powerful being. You can do whatever you'd like, including shifting, so what's stopping you?

"Clones" & Stand-Ins · What are they?

Note: A lot of people in the community do not refer to "Clones" as clones anymore because of the dehumanizing implications behind it; Most people use the term "variant" or "other self" !! For the sake of this section, I will be using the term "clone".

A "clone" is a version of yourself. They aren't some random person who takes over your CR body while you're in another reality, or a robot who doesn't know anything about you, they're simply another version of you. Think back to the TV analogy. Who do you think is living your DR self's life right now? Another version of you, because your DR self is YOU. The same exact thing goes for your CR. When you're not there, another version of you is. Not a "part of your consciousness left behind" or anything like that, just an alternate version of yourself.

On the other hand, a stand-in is a completely different soul / person. Now, I'm not very educated on the topic of stand-ins, nor have I been able to find any good resources on them, so I will not say more on the topic in order to prevent spreading possible misinfo. Just know that "clones" and stand-ins are not the same thing.

You can script to shift back to an alternate version of your CR where they've done those things, but you can't script for it to happen in your CR. Scripting is the act of specifying your intentions on the reality you want to shift to by organizing the info you want to be included; In shorter words, you are choosing the reality you want to go to by putting your intentions on a document, whether it is physical, digital, or mental. You are NOT "creating" the reality you are shifting to from scratch because that reality has already existed, you're just specifying your intention.

This is exactly why scripting isn't needed in order to shift. Even if you don't script where you want to go at all, you & your subconscious knowing exactly what you want in a reality is enough to shift somewhere you intend to.

There are many, many ways to script any reality you want to go to. You can do it physically on paper, digitally on apps (I will elaborate more on actual resources in Resources.), or even mentally by affirming you're scripting whatever for the reality you're going to.

You can be as detailed or as vague as you want as well when scripting, and it truly does not matter because as long as you know exactly what you mean by what you put down or affirmed, then it'll happen exactly the way you want it to. that your scripts don't dictate the intent of any reality you shift to, YOU DO.

Scripting · "Types" of Realities

The "types" of realities shifters go to fall into three main categories: Desired Realities, Waiting Rooms, and Temporary Realities.

Note that for all realities, the sky is the absolute limit when scripting where you want to go. You can truly go anywhere you'd like; Your favorite TV show, book, anime, manga, or movie, a video game you enjoy, a "custom" reality based off of a book you wrote or an idea you had in your head, your desired profession, to be famous / royalty, to a better version of your CR, etc.

A Desired Reality, often shortened to "DR", is the "standard" type of reality a shifter goes to in order to experience it for a long period of time.

Waiting Rooms, mostly shortened to WR, is a type of reality shifters go to in order to rest or peacefully script while being alone or around the people they love most. For most, it also acts as a sort of "checkpoint", like a water station you stop in front of in the middle of a race to rest or drink water right before continuing to the finish line, hence why it's referred to as a waiting room.

A Temporary Reality, or a TR, is a reality shifters only intend to shift to for a certain amount of time. It doesn't mean that you cannot go back after experiencing that certain event, you usually just don't intend to go through anything else in that reality but what you planned.

You can script and switch between as many realities as you'd like! Nothing else will change except for your intention.

Scripting · Basic Things to Script

Here are some basic things for you to script if you need a starting point:

Where are you shifting to? Is it a certain "type" of reality? Would you like to script in a Lifa device / tool? What's your time ratio and safe word / phrase? What'll happen on your first day in this reality?

Is there anything you'd like to change about your health? Document information about yourself. What do you look and sound like? What are some of the things you own? What's your fashion style like? If you're planning on having powers, write those down as well.

What are some things about the world that you don't like? You can go ahead and change them for this reality by scripting it out. Who are your friends, enemies, and lovers? Would you like to experience certain scenarios? Go ahead and jot those down.

Scripting · Being Thoughtful as You Script

I'd like to remind you to please be thoughtful as you're scripting, especially if you are planning on shifting somewhere that's usually packed with action, war, or horror like themes. It can be VERY easy to traumatize yourself if you're not mentally ready to go through certain things that you script in.

I'm not saying that you shouldn't script in certain things at all, I just want you to think and ask yourself one thing before writing something down that seems heavy:

"If this were to happen to me right now in this reality, how would I react?"

It's easy to get caught up in scripting in "dramatic" and "angsty" scenarios, but do not ever forget that you are shifting to a REAL WORLD. This is REALITY for you and everyone else around you in that DR / WR / TR.

Methods · What are they?

Generally speaking, a method is a procedure or process for doing something. Everyone uses a method for at least one thing in their lives, such as cooking food using a recipe, studying, or making an object using a how-to manual. Are methods needed entirely though? Not at all.* You don't have to follow a 24 step tutorial on how to make the best cereal if you just want to bring the bowl out, pour in the cereal, and then the milk. You'll still get the same desired result either way.

This obviously isn't the same for things like school/workplace assignments, operating machinery, and other things that can have harmful results if not followed correctly.*

As for shifting methods, the same thing goes. They're just step-by-step procedures or guides for the process of shifting. You do NOT have to use a method to shift though, since all you truly need is your intention & the belief that you can do so. Do you want to just count and affirm? It'll work. Only thinking about where you want to go? It'll work. Anything you do will work as long as you want it to.

Methods · Main Factors

There are many, many methods out there, but all of them have the same three factors: Setting the intention, persisting, and "crossing the finish line".

Setting the intention works by simply starting the method (ie. "I intend / want to shift to my DR.), persisting can consist of you counting, affirming, visualizing, etc., and "crossing the finish line" is basically you waking up in your DR / WR / TR.

Let's use a pretty famous shifting method, the Raven Method, as an example to show this. The method starts off with you getting into a comfortable position (Setting the intention.). Then, you'll count to 100 while affirming that you have shifted (Persisting.). Finally, when you've finished counting to 100, you'll fall asleep with the intention of waking up in your DR / WR / TR ("Crossing the finish line.").

Methods · "Types" of Methods

There isn't much to say here, but there are two main types of methods: Awake & Sleep / Asleep.

A sleep method is a shifting method that requires the shifter to fall asleep with the intention of waking up in their DR / WR / TR after they're "finished" with the method itself. An awake method is a shifting method that does NOT require the shifter to fall asleep after they're finished with the method. The key thing to here is that you can adjust any method to your liking. Let's say that you want to use the Raven Method to shift in the afternoon, but you don't want to fall asleep at the end of it. You can simply just keep counting and affirming until you get to your destination.

Methods · Doing What Works For You

Asking questions such as "What's the best method?" and "What are the best methods for beginners/experts/etc.?" are truly unhelpful, solely because you need to do what works for you. Shifting is a personal journey, so not everyone is going to be able to use the Lucid Dreaming or Julia method.

Finding out what works well for you when you shift does and will do wonders for your journey. A good starting place is to ask yourself when you're usually free to shift, what environment you're in when you do, and what works for you when actually shifting. The key is to make shifting completely comfortable and fun for yourself!

Are you available to shift during the day or nighttime? Is your bedroom usually noisy?

Do you like visualizing, or is affirming better for you? Do you like to use the Void State, SATS, or Hypnagogia to shift?

CR: Stands for "Current Reality". It's pretty much the reality you're in learning about shifting right now. This is "Point A" when referring to the phrase "Going from Point A to Point B" in regards to shifting, with your CR being A, and whatever reality you're shifting to being B.

DR: Stands for "Desired Reality". It's the "standard" type of reality shifters go to (ex. "My Hogwarts DR", "My MCU DR", etc.) and experience.

IR: Stands for "Intended Reality". It's a synonym for "DR".

Lifa: An application / service that helps you out with many things in your DR / WR / TR while you're there, such as scripting changes, manifesting, checking your relationships with others, shifting to another reality, etc. It can come in many forms, its most popular ones being an app or a journal.

OR: Stands for "Original / Old Reality". It's a synonym for CR.

Safe Word: A word (It can also be a phrase or an action.) said with the intention of shifting back to your CR or another reality. This isn't required because you really only need intention to go back to your CR, but it can be comforting to some to know they have it.

Scripting: Specifying your intentions on the reality you plan on shifting to via documentation.

Time Ratio: Also referred to as a time conversion, a time ratio is a ratio between how much time es in one reality while you're in the other. A good example of this is "1 day in my CR is equivalent to 2 days in my DR."

TR: Stands for "Temporary Reality". Whereas DRs are places shifters choose to go to in order to experience a series of events over a long period of time, shifters go to TRs to experience one single event and shift back immediately after with (usually) no intention of going back. For example, someone may create a TR to just go to a Taylor Swift concert or experience the events of a singular MCU movie.

WR: Stands for "Waiting Room". For shifters, a waiting room acts as a sort of resting place where they can script, relax, or just be at peace before choosing to shift to a DR or come back to their CR, hence the "waiting room" name.

Methods: A certain procedure or process for obtaining a desired result.

Persist: To keep pushing or going no matter what. A synonym for perseverance.
