The purpose of Dead Languages Amino

Aloha, Ohana! Recently, have requested "popular languages", meaning languages not considered endangered, dead, ancient or fictional.

Since Dead Languages Amino is an amino for dead, endangered, ancient, unpopular and/or fictional languages, that means that sadly, Japanese, Italian, Korean, Arabic, Modern Hebrew, Mandarin Chinese and Tagalog, cannot be taught here.

We are sorry for any confusion have or had regarding the purpose of this Amino. Though, there are so many more options with dead, endangered, fictional, ancient and even member created languages!

Step One: Do your research

Now, before making a post, research the language you would like to teach or learn to have a better understanding of wether it is considered dead, endangered, unpopular or fictional.

If the language is spoken by billions of people, it might not be dead--though, if your language is in your search results for "dead languages" or "endangered languages", then it could be considered.

Step Two: Understand what exactly a "dead language" consists of

A dead language as explained on the website: Bilingua, is a language that is no longer the native language of where it originated. (Just like Latin)

Dead languages are not necessarily extinct, dead languages are usually just a second language.

To make everything even easier, here are a few endangered languages!

Welsh, Irish Gaelic, Scottish Gaelic, Basque, Yiddish, Aymara, Ossete, Armonian, Venetan, Okanagan, Latin, Coptic, Biblical Hebrew, Sumerian, Akkadian and Sanskrit!

These are less than a fraction of the endangered and dead languages in this world, it is estimated that 90% of the 7,000 total languages in this world are endangered. By 2025, they could all be extinct.
