Pride Month Connor

This week’s #ArtClub challenge was to draw Connor in pride month wear.

Time: 2 hours 15 minutes

Materials: stylus, iphone

I decided to draw him with hair that flows into a rainbow, and a pride month rainbow heart shirt. The background is also a rainbow, but in the opposite direction to contrast the rainbow hair. I gave him a little blush to make him look happy, and chose to draw his beard(I usually don’t, I don’t know why).

  I’m pretty happy with how this one turned out. My favorite part was probably shading the skin, because I learned a way to do it much faster. In fact, everything this time went faster, so I think I’m starting to get the hang of things. My least favorite part of it was probably the hair—I still don’t know how to color hair—but I think it turned out okay since it was supposed to be a rainbow.

Notable things that I learned this time were how to do things faster, using the flat brush instead of watercolor to color clothing, a cool way to color semi-realistic eyes, and better use of the magic wand tool. The next thing I need to learn is still how to color hair.
