Phantomhive Twins

Hello~

This time, I drew the Phantomhive twins as an art request for Swan.

Time: 11.5 hours

Materials: phone, stylus, finger

Note: I will be referring to the mc as Ciel, and the other twin as Ciel’s twin.

Credits: The drawing is mine, but the words in it are lyrics from Ciel Star’s parody of “Evelyn, Evelyn,” and I do not take any credit for them.

Whew! Honestly, I didn’t think I would be so proud of my art for a long time after Tsukiyama...but I’m pretty proud of this. I learned a TON of things on this one—coloring skin, coloring clothes, how to use accenting colors, and how to use hue. As I guessed, I got way too into it! 11.5 hours is without counting the hours I spent watching tutorials on how to do stuff. :joy: Now that I’m done, I feel like I received a sort of satisfying wave of accomplishment for my effort.

I decided to draw the twins contrasting each other, with Ciel broken like he was way in the beginning—and his twin mighty and regal—the way he was portrayed in most of the manga. In addition, Ciel is facing towards the darkness, but almost smiling in a bittersweet fashion, to show that he has accepted his path through the dark. His twin is facing the light, but smirking at it, to show his feeling of superiority, as if he belongs in the light, but is actually quite dark. Ciel is also shown in a submissive pose, while his twin has his chest out and his head held high.

Since the request was for Swan, who loves “Ciel, Ciel,” I incorporated some of the lyrics on a floating scroll of paper surrounding the two. This symbolizes how they are intertwined through the lyrics of the song.

I think something I could have done better this time is the writing of the lyrics—I actually have terrible writing, if you couldn’t tell, and scrawling that measly portion of words(which is in handwriting much better than I usually do) was pretty hard. Despite my efforts, they still came out quite wonky and disproportionate. I’m not meant to be a calligrapher, that’s for sure. :joy: My favorite part of this was probably the shading of the clothes and the skin. I learned how to shade them using warm colors and watercolor, and with a tip from Isi, started learning how to accent things with other colors—accenting skin with purple, and accenting yellow with green and such. I hope I can continue to improve! :sparkles:
