Planet Overview
╚═*.·:·.✧ ✦ ✧.·:·.*═╝
Welcome to the wondrous planet of Sorathia, a small world spanning only about 500 miles.
Sorathia is predominantly covered by water, with a 300-mile-wide island at its center, forming a perfect circle amidst the vast expanse of the freshwater ocean. Depending on the time of year you visit, your experience could be vastly different. The planet only experiences two seasons: the Light Season and the Dark Season.
During the Light Season, which makes up the first half of the year, the planet becomes a desolate, barren wasteland. The once-vibrant land is now scorched beneath an unrelenting sun, and only the shrinking freshwater ocean sustains the life that remains. Temperatures soar to a blistering 120 degrees Fahrenheit. The landscape stretches out in a blistering sea of sandy yellows and burnt oranges, with the horizon shimmering under the oppressive heat. Few forms of vegetation survive. Notably, a deep red variety of cactus grows to the size of small trees, retaining precious moisture and providing sustenance for the few creatures that still roam the island. Most creatures take shelter beneath any shade they can find, emerging only to drink from the ocean or feed on the few remaining vegetation or resilient aquatic life that survives beneath the surface in these harsh conditions.
This environment persists for six full months, until finally the twin suns set, and the sister moons rise to claim their half of the year.
In the span of just 24 hours after the suns have sunk below the horizon, replaced by the glimmering silver moons, new life is breathed into Sorathia. Mysteriously glowing grass that seems almost sentient, trees with shimmering leaves in a rainbow of colors, and shrubbery that glistens with light emerge from beneath the sand, replacing the desert with lush green fields and dense forests. Every living thing on Sorathia—flora, fauna, and the humanoid race that inhabits it—bears a gene of bioluminescence, causing the planet to glow with life in the Dark Season.
As far as the eye can see, Sorathia in the Dark Season is a lush, rainbow-hued paradise, bathed in shimmering silver light from the moons and the soft colorful glow emitted by every living creature. Flora is abundant, as diverse as the countless species that emerge from their shaded hiding places to bask in the abundance brought by the moons.

Celestial Mechanics
╚═*.·:·.✧ ✦ ✧.·:·.*═╝
Sorathia exists within a binary star system, where two suns orbit a common center of gravity. The planet follows an elongated orbit, causing it to experience extreme seasonal shifts. During the Light Season, Sorathia is positioned closer to both stars, resulting in intense heat and prolonged daylight. As it moves to the opposite side of its orbit, one sun sets sooner, and the second follows, plunging the planet into its cooler, bioluminescent Dark Season.
The two moons orbit in a synchronized pattern, exerting gravitational forces that influence ocean tides and underground water reservoirs. Their combined light is strong enough to sustain bioluminescent plant life, which has evolved to absorb and reflect lunar energy. This delicate celestial balance creates Sorathia’s unique cycle of death and rebirth.

Sorathia’s Seasons
╚═*.·:·.✧ ✦ ✧.·:·.*═╝
The Light Season
For six relentless months, Sorathia is scorched by twin suns, turning the land into a barren wasteland. Temperatures soar to 120°F, drying up most vegetation. The freshwater ocean shrinks, and creatures hide in burrows or beneath the waves, emerging only to survive the brutal heat.
The Dark Season
When the suns set, the moons rise, and life returns overnight. Bioluminescent flora bursts from the sand, rivers flow again, and the island glows with vibrant colors. Every living thing emits a soft light, transforming Sorathia into a radiant paradise filled with abundance and renewal.

Noteable Places
╚═*.·:·.✧ ✦ ✧.·:·.*═╝
Year-Round Locations
These places remain significant and accessible regardless of the season.
• The Twin Pillars – Towering rock formations believed to be sacred sentinels of balance.
• The Verdant Hollows – Underground caverns where life persists even in the Light Season. These hollows contain pools of water year-round, as they are directly connected to the freshwater ocean.
• The Ocean’s Eye – A mysterious vortex in the freshwater ocean, rumored to lead to an unknown realm.
• The Eclipse Altar – A sacred peak where rituals mark the transition between seasons.
Notable Places in the Light Season
These locations are most prominent or treacherous during the scorching months. Many were once lush and thriving in the Dark Season.
• The Sun-Scorched Flats (formerly the Luminous Expanse) – A cracked wasteland of ancient ruins, once covered in glowing grass that has now withered into brittle husks.
• The Mirage Dunes (formerly the Shimmering Groves) – A shifting desert where mirages lure travelers astray, standing where once a glowing forest of multicolored trees flourished.
• The Hollowed Craters (formerly the Moondrop Pools) – Deep, dry basins where crystalline pools once reflected the twin moons, now cracked and barren in the relentless heat.
• The Silent Wastes (formerly the Whispering Thicket) – An eerie expanse of skeletal trees, their bioluminescent glow now extinguished, leaving behind twisted, dry husks.
• The Embered Highlands (formerly the Twilight Blossoms) – Rolling hills where once vibrant glowing flowers blanketed the landscape. Now, only their scorched remains scatter the cracked soil, giving the land an ember-like appearance.
• The Smoldering Steps (formerly the Moonlit Falls) – A once-thriving waterfall that fed into the ocean, now reduced to jagged, sunbaked rock formations with faint traces of mineral deposits shimmering under the suns.
Notable Places in the Dark Season
These locations emerge or become vibrant during the bioluminescent months, transforming the barren wasteland into a glowing paradise.
• The Luminous Expanse (later becomes the Sun-Scorched Flats) – A glowing field where bioluminescent grass creates celestial patterns, later turning to dust in the Light Season.
• The Shimmering Groves (later becomes the Mirage Dunes) – A dense forest of radiant, multicolored trees, their canopy alive with shifting hues before withering in the heat.
• The Moondrop Pools (later becomes the Hollowed Craters) – Crystal-clear pools reflecting the twin moons, said to have healing properties, which evaporate completely in the Light Season.
• The Whispering Thicket (later becomes the Silent Wastes) – A jungle where trees emit soft, melodic hums, believed to be voices of ancestors, silenced when the heat overtakes them.
• The Twilight Blossoms (later becomes the Embered Highlands) – A vast meadow of glowing flowers that release spores in the night, illuminating the air, only to be reduced to dry remnants when the suns rise.
• The Moonlit Falls (later becomes the Smoldering Steps) – A stunning waterfall cascading with bioluminescent algae, drying up and vanishing as the season shifts.

Ooo very interesting and well written. I've been trying to do sci-fi world building for a while now and this is a great reference or template :hearts:
I’m glad it can be of use! I can’t wait to see the world you build!🖤
