tw: this poem talks about negative thoughts.

• ───────────────── •

they ask me how i’m doing

i respond and say i’m just

tired.

but it’s far more than that.

you see,

my brain is full of thoughts.

they keep pestering and mocking me.

what do i do with all these thoughts in my mind?

sometimes i want to bury them

deep, deep inside.

but the longer i hide them,

the more they hurt me.

i’m way more than tired inside.

these thoughts

are like ink

seeping slowly into my head.

but once they’re there,

they’re hard to get out.

tumbling and running

over and over again.

it’s like a broken record

playing the same old song.

i want something different.

please make it stop.

some ink might be permanent,

but others are not.

luckily for me,

these thoughts are just thoughts.

sometimes they stain

the crevices in my mind.

if i work hard enough

i might clean them up

and leave them behind.

as long as the ink

stays on the outside of my skin

i can heal from it

and learn how to grin.

for the inkling of thoughts

that leave tattoos on my heart —

i’ll learn to tame them

maybe someday

these thoughts will just stop.
