W E L C O M E ! ! !

This is Nomad! Today, I am happy to show you all the next Chapter of Bolton: A Splat Force Story!

Like the last one, this Chapter doesn't warrant a warning on the cover, nor the post, due to it being tamer than the first two.

This one will have a time jump, by a couple of years, however, I think/hope that you all won't get lost on the way.

So without further ado, let's get into this!

Unfortunately for Bolton, his time at the care home quickly came to an end after being fired in the new year later, the reason being that his presence made all the elderly feel threatened. Ever since then, he had spent his time finding a good job that would last him some time.

Over the past couple of years, he had been through twelve different jobs. Six of them only lasted a month, one of them lasted two months, one lasted three months, another lasted four months. Two of them lasted five months. Things looked hopeless.

However, Bolton managed to score a job as a waiter in a small calamari restaurant on the east side of Pulpo City. It wasn't much, he only got paid six cash per hour, and there we a few negative comments here and there, but, at least he had a job that he knew he was gonna keep, until...

"Bankrupt..."

He muttered to Helena before facepalming.

"I guess the working life really isn't for me, huh..."

"Hey, we'll figure something out, okay?"

She assured him as she rubbed his shoulder.

Over the years, the interior of Helena's apartment had hardly changed, except for the moving boxes being replaced by bookcases and desks. However, the walls and floor were more vibrantly coloured.

"You know Hela, I was actually starting to get used to it all, but now I have to go job hunting, again..."

He said with a sigh.

"It will be okay, Bolton. Maybe I could ask Lee to give you another chance!"

She suggested, sadly not getting any sign of optimism from him.

"No, Lee was an asshole towards me, the last thing I want is to put up with his carp again!"

He replied, raising his voice. He then saw the alarmed look on Helena's face.

"I-I'm sorry, things have just been rough, you know?"

"No, no. I completely understand!"

She said before pulling him in for a hug.

"How about we go out for a meal tonight? Just as a little something to help cheer you up."

The jobless Octoling took his time to answer, trying to wrap his head around it all.

"Okay, I think that would help."

"Awesome!"

She whispered as she pulled out of the hug.

"Give me a few minutes to get out of this smelly uniform!"

Helena walked to the cupboard and took out a dark green dress before walking into the bathroom to take off her blue buttoned shirt. On the outside, Bolton walked to the clothe hanger and grabbed his black jacket and put it on.

After a short minute, Helena walked out of the bathroom. Bolton's mouth started to open, she looked stunning.

"My cod, Hela, you are a sight to behold!"

"Thank you, handsome!"

She replied as the two of them began to hold hands.

"Let's get this show on the road, shall we?"

The young couple walked out of the apartment, both of them were eager to finally have an amazing night after all the stress. As she approached the building's door, the landlord quickly glanced over at the Inkling.

"My, my, you looked great tonight."

"Thanks, Mr Brooke."

She replied with a smile before walking out of the building and on the streets of Pulpo City.

Bolton was confused to see all the sea critters already Christmas shopping with large paper bags which held all the presents.

"We are six days into October, why are people going on about Christmas now?"

"You know what, I don't know. I guess that is one of life's greatest mysteries."

The Inkling replied, her long, green highlighted hair swayed with the cool breeze as they walked along the streets.

At long last, they finally arrived at their destination, which happened to be on the east side, the opposite side to where the apartment is. The restaurant in question was called Clownfish Bucket. It just so happened to be the same one that was going bankrupt. It was now on a fifty per cent discount, tonight was the last night before the shutdown.

"Uh, I'm not meant to be on shift tonight, Hela."

Bolton told her, however, that wasn't why she brought him here.

"Uh, didn't I tell you that this is just gonna be a meal, not a shift, haha."

Helena replied with a giggle.

"I suppose that's fair, but I think it's still gonna be odd for the other workers to see me there, when I work here, well used to work here..."

He replied.

The two of them approached a table outside of the restaurant building.

"I'll just go in and wait for our order there, you just sit down here."

She told him before walking inside.

Bolton awkwardly sat down at the glass table. He placed his head against it, trying to hide his face to avoid anyone recognising him, even though he was the only Octoling in Pulpo City and that anyone could recognise him with his hair.

Helena walked out of the building, holding a tray that held a plate of Curry and Rice and a plate that held mash potatoes.

"Sorry it took a hot minute, the cue was horrendous."

She explained with a sigh of relief.

"I guess that's what happens you are having a closing discount, haha!"

"Yeah, in the time that I've worked here, I've never seen it this packed."

Bolton replied as Helena sat down. The two of them began to eat.

"I've probably made a huge mistake picking the Curry, I'm gonna have an upset stomach tonight..."

She muttered before turning her attention to Bolton, who hadn't even started his meal.

"Are you okay?"

Instead of answering with the obvious yes or no, Bolton decided to give a more challenging answer.

"Where do you think we'll be in a few years?"

"Oh my..."

Helena gasped, the question made her stop eating to think about it.

"This might be the cliche answer but, maybe we could move away from Pulpo City, maybe find a home in a quiet place, a place that will make us, more specifically you feel more comfortable. Who knows, maybe we could start a family of our own."

"Y-You want to have kids?"

Bolton asked, raising an eyebrow at the possibility of an Inkling like her and an Octoling like him having children.

"I know you may not feel comfortable with that but, I think it would be great for you to give that child the fatherly love that your dad never gave you."

She told him.

That reason alone made him rethink the thought of having kids. She was right, he could very well succeed where his dad failed.

"You know, I think I could give little Sasha the love that I needed when I was young."

"Sasha?"

She asked with a wide smile on her face.

"I take it you're hoping for a girl, aren't you?"

"Oh no, I don't mind either."

Bolton told her.

"If it was a boy, what would he be called?"

She asked, hoping that he's thought of a boy name.

Sadly, he hadn't even thought about a boy name."

"I don't have any ideas, do you?"

"I don't have anything, sadly."

She replied.

"I just want to know, where did Sasha come from?"

"Sasha is a girls name for man's defender. I like that name and its meaning because it reminds me of you."

He explained.

"You've defended me for almost my entire life, you are my defender, my happiness. You're the reason why I'm still in the light. I don't know where I would be without you."

The Inkling teared up as she gently held Bolton's hand.

"T-Thank you..."

She muttered, she wiped a small tear off her face and smiled at him.

"I'm thankful that I've helped you!"

The young couple walked along the field, away from the bright city. They held hands as they watched the night sky. All they saw were pretty stars and dark purple skies. However, there was a small light that was slowly getting bigger and bigger. They decided not to acknowledge it for the time being.

"Wow, I haven't watched the stars in a long time, I've forgotten how pretty they all are!"

Helena exclaimed adoringly.

"Honestly, I feel the same way."

Bolton replied before looking towards his girlfriend.

"But to be honest, over the past couple of years, I've seen something much better!"

Helena looked away from the sky and faced him. The two trade smiles before pulling each other in for a hug.

"I love you, Hela..."

"I love you too..."

She replied. The two leaned out of the hug, still wrapping their arms around each other.

They pressed their foreheads against one another and embraced their moment of peace. They were free now. No more College, no more daily bullying. It felt as if they had no more responsibilities, although sadly, that wasn't the case.

"When we get in, firstly, we still have those brownies to snack on! Secondly, we will try and look for an online job, something that would be a great work from home job."

Helena told him, managing to balance a conversation about responsibilities and needs.

"That would be great!"

Bolton replied before briefly looking back towards the sky, noticing that the bright light was closer than it was beforehand.

"You go on ahead, I'll catch up in a few minutes. I just want to look at the stars some more."

"Of course, I'll see you there!"

She replied before walking back towards the city.

The red-haired Octoling smiled at her before turning back towards the star. As she got closer to home, so did the light. Upon looking closely, he noticed that the light had now taken up the shape of what looked like a meteorite. Little did he know that he was about to witness history unfold.

Sirens started to blast their haunting noise, sending the entire of Pulpo City into a state of fear. One scream from an Inkling started a chain reaction of screams, to the point where the screams combined were on the same level of sound as the siren itself.

Unlike most of the Inklings, who all ran around like headless chickens, Bolton stood still and watched as the meteorite got closer and closer. He felt too shocked to move. Even from the distance, he saw that the meteorite began to show bright cracks, which spread all around it. Radiation began pouring out of the meteorite like water at a dam. Eventually, it finally reached the Earths atmosphere. However, it looked unstable. It looked like it was about to blow.

B O O M ! ! !

Just as Bolton finally came to his sense and began to run back to the city, the meteorite self-destructed, sending the radiation merging into the Earth's atmosphere within minutes. Very soon, a bright light followed, a light that put the world into a brief moment of unconsciousness.

Thx for reading this week's Chapter of Bolton: A Splat Force Story! From this moment on, Bolton will be in a brand new world, a gifted world. The next Chapter is expected to be pretty dark and might warrant a warning as we dive back into some rather dark territories. So stay tuned for that! Until next time, stay safe out there! ^^
