◈ Obito Uchiha ◆

He was a member of Konoha's Uchiha clan who served as Minato Namikaze's subordinate along side Kakashi Hatake and Rin Nohara.

Obito played a major role in the entire series. We'll find that out as we proceed further with this post.

◈ Early Life ◆

As a result of not knowing who his parents were,Obito was raised by his grandmother, which led him to constantly feel of lonely. But that didn't stop him from being a cheerful and goofy kid. He was easy going but at the same time hard working on his ninja skills to achieve his childhood dream which was becoming a hokage in order to get recognised by the village.

He enrolled in the ninja academy to help him achieve that goal, where he developed a one-sided rivalry with Kakashi whose natural talent and popularity made Obito jealous.He also became a close friend of Rin Nohara whom he eventually fell in love with.During this time we witnessed how Obito constantly worked hard to sur Kakashi in order to be acknowledged by both of them.

The trait I loved about a young Obito was he wasn't someone who searched for excuses for his current failures and situations rather worked harder towards achieving his goals and dreams no matter what challenges he faced.After he graduated some years later from the Konoha Ninja Academy,Obito, Rin, and Kakashi were placed on TEAM 7 under the leadership of Minato Namikaze.

◈ The Third Great Ninja War ◆

Although I expected Obito to act a bit mature here,I realized that he was still the same old kid competing with Kakashi pushing both of them to achieve new levels. During a mission to destroy the Kannabi Bridge,Obito's faithfulness for his teammates comes to view as he disobeyed Kakashi's commands in order to save Rin, especially because before Rin and Kakashi, he had no special bond of friendship which I surely loved making him one of my favorite.

Obito while trying to rescue Rin was about to be attacked by the enemy shinobi.Meanwhile, moved by Obito's earlier words, Kakashi arrived in time to save him, but lost his left eye in the process.During their escape after rescuing Rin from the cave she was in.Obito noticed a falling boulder was about to hit kakashi, so he pushed kakashi out of the way and became trapped in his place crushing his whole right side.

It was an emotional scene because after all this time he had finally started to get along with Kakashi and started to come in good with him and also that he couldn't confess to Rin that he loved her. All he could do at the moment was give Kakashi his Sharingan as a last gift and ask him to take care of Rin as a last dying wish.He then slowly disappeared with the crumbling rocks.

◈ Fortune Favours The Brave ◆

Obito who was under a huge boulder under a collapsed cave was miraculously rescued by White Zetsu under orders from an elderly Madara.White Zetsu brought Obito to Madara's hideout and tended to his injuries, removing those body parts too damaged to be healed and replacing them with limbs cultivated from the cells of Hashirama Senju.

During the end of his recuperation process, White Zetsu informed Obito that Kakashi and Rin were elsewhere about to be killed by Hiden Mist Village shinobis.Obito was insistent on helping them,before leaving, thanked Madara for all his help but said he wouldn't be returning.Madara made clear his conviction that Obito would return to him.

◈ The Night That Changed Everything ◆

In every individual's life there comes a moment which changes them for either good or bad. In my opinion this was that very moment that changed Obito for the worse.Obito's first reunion with his old teammates was a tragic event in his life.

When Obito arrived, he found Kakashi plunging his Chidori through Rin's which led to her death that caused each of their Sharingan to mature into Mangekyo Sharingan.Devastated by what happened, Obito had no control over himself which made him slaughter the Hidden Mist shinobis.

I believe after Rin's death, Obito's determination and idealism were shattered, he became more calm and focused, no longer caring about his village, his friends, or even his name, all of them being worthless parts of a miserable world that had forced Rin to die in the hands of a person she loved.

◈From Now On,Your Name Is Madara Uchiha◆

Here we got to witness how good Madara is with his words. He easily convinced and manipulated Obito to take up his ideals and turn him into a cruel ninja who's going to do anything from now on in order to be with Rin again. Even calling him the savior of this doomed world.

At this point of time I wouldn't blame Obito for falling into Madara's trap. He's just a blank canvas, running with emotions like sadness sorrow and regret. He got easily trapped into Madara's words which gave him a little bit of hope that he could be with Rin again.Madara explained his Eye of the moon plan, which would replace the contemporary world of violence and death with one where nobody ever needs to die.

Having left almost all that he had to Obito, Madara disconnected himself from the 𝗗𝗲𝗺𝗼𝗻𝗶𝗰 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗲 that was keeping him alive and told Obito that until his revival, he has to act as Madara Uchiha.

◈ The Fourth Great Ninja War ◆

Fast forward a few years, the new ninja war began, combining all of the 5 great nations against Obito.

I realized how years of hatred made Obito one cruel and ruthless War Lord who's willing to commit any crime to succeed with his plan. This was the first time I saw Obito in action seriously and it highlighted how strong he actually was, keeping up with likes of Naruto with Kurama chakra mode,Killer Bee who's a perfect Jinchuriki like Naruto, as well as with Kakashi and Might Guy who are elite class shinobis taking them on all of them at once.

I believe his crimes seemed necessary for him especially after thinking that the victims he killed were gonna come back to "life" in the imaginary world he's trying to make and that every murder was a sacrifice for the greater good and a life that would be restored in the new world. He was willing to sacrifice himself for the plan ( The Eye Of The Moon ), and more often, his allies, turning on them the instant he no longer had any further use to them.

◈ Reunion Of The Sharingans ◆

Once Madara told Obito that the Sharingan's true potential can only be used when both of them are used together. But this unlikely reunion had other surprises.As the fighting went on, Obito and kakashi found themselves in the kamui's dimension which both of them shared.As the fight continued,Kakashi reminisced about the young Obito's similarities to Naruto and at that point he decided that he must kill the current Obito.

Obito used an absolute genius move when Kakashi impaled his heart with a lightning-infused kunai, that he found in that attack an opportunity to free himself from Madara's tag that he implanted inside him when he was rescued. This fight scene was so well carried out that you can sense the emotions in it . It was not some usual fight, it was a fight with a history behind it. Personally, the flashbacks from their childhood and the transition to the current time maked this fight scene easily one of the best anime fights of all time.

◈ Obito Is Back ◆

"The Talk No Jutsu Saves The Day"

As time went by he was unstoppable once he transformed into the ten tails Jinchuriki .No one was able to keep up with his God Tier powers and his pure destructive capabilities. Pushing the shinobis and re-animated Hokage's in a tight corner.

But there was a twist.As some of us are familiar with Naruto's Talk no Jutsu and how "powerful" it is. It's fair to say even someone as powerful as Obito with his Sharingan and Rinnegan can't win against it, so as Naruto talked with him, Obito realized his mistakes and how much Naruto resembled his past self, so he reconsidered his choices and decided to help the Shinobi alliance fight Madara.

◈ You Better Become Hokage ◆

During the final struggles of the war, Obito and Kakashi, empowered by a shared memory of their past friendship, placed themselves in front of Naruto and Sasuke as shields, to protect them from the killing 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗸𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝘀𝗵 𝗯𝗼𝗻𝗲𝘀 Kaguya aimed at them. And since Obito's odyssey began by saving Kakashi from death by a boulder, he decided he must end things by saving Kakashi's life again, and with no chances of survival, he placed his faith for a better world in Naruto before dying happily and asked him to become Hokage once they win the war because it was the dream he couldn't fulfill.I actually think Obito did that as a way to repay for all the crimes he committed and to make sure he did something good at the end.

◈ Farewell Gift To His Best Friend ◆

In the final moments of the war, Obito gave his last gift for his best friend so that he can live upto his name as 𝗞𝗮𝗸𝗮𝘀𝗵𝗶 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗮𝗻 for one final time.Imbuing Kakashi temporarily with the power of his Mangekyo Sharingan. Kakashi used that and the resulting susanoo to provide backup for Naruto and Sasuke, giving them the opening they needed to defeat Kaguya. When they succeeded, Obito apologised to Kakashi for the damage he caused, disappearing into ashes after that final reunion. I personally loved this scene for two main reasons : first that Obito finally found his old self and secondly that he recognised his mistakes and repented of it.

◈ Personal Thoughts ◆

I believe Obito viewed his actions as a station beyond Hokage; when the Hokage did what is best for the village, Obito felt he did what was best for the world.I think it was due to conflict between his past and present selves that drove Obito the most, especially in the events leading up to and following the outbreak of the Fourth Shinobi World War where he became increasingly hasty with his plans, first moving Akatsuki from a secretive organisation to a force that directly challenged the Five Shinobi Nations and later by prematurely reviving the ten tails.

Obito and Naruto were same in many aspects,both were orphans.They had same ideals,both wanted to be Hokage and protect their friends.However if Naruto were to ever stumble or fall off his path he had people like Kakashi and Jiraiya that could correct him but when Obito stumbled a new path of darkness was created.Without anyone to bring him back he kept falling deeper.The only person around Obito at that time was unfortunately Madara Uchiha who manipulated him.Blinded by hatred Obito lost all his empathy for the world.

I believe Obito was the real antagonist of the whole series as he represented Naruto himself on a different path filled with hatred. Ultimately the character of Obito showed us that there's no such thing as being born good or bad. In the end it's the people and the surrounding environment which shapes us going forward. Good people can bring you happiness, but on the other hand, bad people can make your life a living hell and destroy you from within to the very core.Thus, I consider Obito to be a victim of war and it showed how someone can be transformed completely, from a loving personality to a cruel war lord.But we all get one chance to make it up for our bad deeds.Obito certainly did make up by contributing in saving the world along with the Shinobi world.
