Father’s Day may be over now, but I still wanted to submit my entry for My Fatherly Figure, which was the latest Weekend Challenge! Submissions for a chance to win a rupee are due by June 25th!

Father’s Day was on Sunday June 20th for me. I wanted to talk about my dad and how I’d represent him as King Dorephan in the Legend of Zelda world. Funny side note, I gave my dad Swedish Fish for Father’s Day and the Zora are aquatic people sksksksk. Just a silly comparison and coincidence. However, There were a lot of similarities between my real life father and King Dorephan, the father of Prince Sidon and Princess Mipha, as I thought about them!

My father is a part of the U.S. military, and I decided to compare that with Dorephan’s status as a king. Dorephan is also the father of an older daughter and younger son, which is the same as my family. I am the eldest sister and I have a younger brother, like Mipha and Sidon.

King Dorephan cares a lot for his children, as my dad. They are both protective. King Dorephan cares much for his people and their safety, which I believe is a trait that also represents my father as a person and with his career.

King Dorephan shows a lot of for both Sidon and Mipha. My dad shows a lot of for my brother and I too. My dad has always been ive of me throughout school, and my career choices. I when I played sports as a child, he was one of those dads yelling from the sidelines.

I’ve always loved King Dorephan as a father figure and his love for Mipha and Sidon. Dorephan was afraid to send Mipha to control Vah Ruta, and he even said no at first. Even though King Dorephan is only seen within Breath of the Wild and Age of Calamity for a short period of time, his appearance in both games is quite important in relation to Sidon and Mipha’s tragic story. King Dorephan is extremely ive of his son and daughter. He even had hope for Mipha’s survival after over a century. His small role in the games left a big impact on me because of his behavior and how he speaks.
