There are many outfits in Breath of the Wild that we can use to dress up our favorite protagonist, Link. Each outfit is unique and provides Link with special stats that can benefit him in different ways. My top five outfit sets will be based on a couple different factors: overall appearance, practicability, and how easy it is to obtain. Please keep in mind that this is all just my opinion & my personal favorites when it comes to the outfits in BOTW! Every outfit is useful is some way!

Climbing Set

I love the climbing set in breath of the wild. It can be found in certain Sheikah shrines. Based off of appearance alone, the climbing set is very cute. My favorite part is the bandana and the belt, though the pants are up there too. I really adore the design of the bandana and how it fits with Link’s hair. The belt has a ton of different parts to it to make it fit with the climbing theme, such as clips and rope. The climbing set is very helpful as you climb the mountains and landscape of Hyrule. Stamina plays a huge part in climbing as without the set, your bound to slip a ton. Unfortunately, the climbing set does have a weakness to it as you will still find yourself slipping while it rains. However, the set allows Link to climb so much faster up the terrain and if upgraded, can provide Link with a “climbing jump stamina up” boost which just makes climbing that much easier and consumes a lot less stamina with each jump.

Snowquill Set

The Snowquill Set was by far one of my most used sets during my play through of Breath of the Wild. In my opinion, the outfit is by far one of the coolest looking ones. It’s so colorful and the feathers provide a lot to it. The Snowquill set also provides Link with a very cute and cozy look from head to toe. By far my favorite part of the outfit, in of looks, is the feather behind Link’s ear. One of the biggest factors to changing clothes in Breath of the Wild has to deal with the weather conditions. The only way to combat the freezing temperatures is by eating warm foods, having fired weapons, or by changing into a warmer clothing & armor set. Just the Snowquill headdress alone can be enough to help Link warm up while traversing the freezing temperatures. Since the feather is white, it matches quite well with almost any armor set, so you don’t need to worry about clashing clothing to stay warm if you’re like me and care a lot about cosmetics and customization in video games.

Dark Link Set

I had to include the Dark Link set into my top 5. Based on looks alone, I think this outfit is one of the coolest. I love how the bright red eyes look against the dark color scheme of the entire set. The Dark Link set also has a favorite perk of mine; which is providing movement speed at night time. I love this perk in any game, but I found it quite beneficial in Breath of the Wild. It’s also a bit funny how many characters in the game recoil in fear while you’re wearing the outfit, I think it’s a cute add in. It does require a bit to get this set, as you have to buy the outfit from the merchant Kilton with mon, which you get from monster parts. Though, if you prefer the look of the Sheikah outfit, stick with that as the movement speed boost from it is practically the same!

Fierce Deity Set

The Fierce Deity Set is another favorite of mine in of looks and the boosts that it gives! I love how it changes Link’s eyes to pure white, gives him some face paint, and turns his hair white. I also love his classic hair style & long hat. The armor also looks quite cool to me, and I enjoyed getting this set. This set provides attack up and reduces spin attack stamina cost, which can be quite helpful during the game. The one problem with this set is that it is only obtainable with Amiibo (Majora’s Mask Link). This set is extremely similar to my last favorite, but is much easier to obtain.

Barbarian Set

The Barbarian Set is one of the coolest outfits in the game to me! It’s just so unique from the skull head piece, the body paint, the really cool armor. I like the bones used as armor for Link’s arms, and the matching furry parts on his boots and shoulders. The uses are exactly the same as the Fierce Deity Set, so having both is very unnecessary, unless you’re like me and enjoy the look of each set. I like to change my outfits a lot in games to fit certain situations, but to also simply customize as I don’t want to wear armor/clothing that I don’t think looks good. The Barbarian Set is obtainable by completing the Tu Ka’loh Shrine, Dila Maag Shrine, Qaza Tokki Shrine for free or it can cost 12k Rupees in Tarrey Town from Granté.

this was my top 5 botw outfit sets! If I had to choose my number 1.. it would definitely be the Snowquill outfit, if you can’t tell from my blog cover! I just love the look of it so much and combatting the cold was such a struggle at time, this set was a lifesaver! Honorable Mention to the heat resistant Gerudo Set, Link is the prettiest girl!~
