WARNING: There's also detailed gore over in this chapter too
Tavis's POV: I woke up a wee late today but I did see a paper airplane on my windae. I was relieved to see it. I went to open the windae to grab the paper airplane and then closin it after.
Dear dad,
What did I say about freaking out? We're doing fine over here like I said. Well, We did sail through a typhoon but we're ok. We're heading to a waterfall so don't write back ok? Love you.
Sincerely Scott Macduff
Tellin me not tae write back made me feel anxious but I hid the papers and pen so I won't find them when I get too anxious and worried.
Scott's POV: The waterfall looked like what was inside of any other waterfall until Jacqueline slowly turned to a pile of something.
"G-guys... Look."
She pointed at a pile of human skulls and bones altogether on top of a rock holding them. A bug crawled into one of the skull's eye and came out of the other. It was unsettling for all of us to see. Some even had blood dripping from their eyes a bit scaring me even more
"I've never seen a real human skull in person." I said.
"I... had..."
"How many?" Troy asked
"Not... too... many... maybe... like 4."
"We regret walking to see the inside." Chloe and Zoey said fearfully.
"Let's get to walkin and findin the treasure. It's somewhere over here the map says." Aunt Matilda said.
We separated into small groups of 3 it was me, Troy and Matilda while Louis was with our cousins. We searched the waterfall head to toe for the x mark on the ground but with more trees and animals running by, it was almost impossible until we heard Louis call to us.
"WE... FOUND THE... X!"
"Fantastic noo help me dig for the treasure." Aunt Matilda said.
So we all started digging. After somewhat almost 10 minutes, The treasure was still very much covered. We started getting a bit tired as we kept digging.
"Whoever buried the treasure chest must really not want somebody else finding it." Troy said.
"Y-You said it Troy." Jacqueline said.
"Yeah." Chloe and Zoey agreed.
After what felt like hours of digging my arms felt like noodles and we finally uncovered the treasure chest that has not been opened yet. Louis and Aunt Matilda took out the treasure that happened to be 16 feet below ground. All of our arms felt like noodles. On the treasure, was a key attached to it and saw a keyhole on the treasure chest. I unlocked the treasure chest with the small key and when I opened the treasure chest, There was no treasure. There was no animal hide either or any old fabrics but a woman tied up around her arms and legs and her mouth covered so she couldn't scream.
She was wearing a dress with a sweater and scarf, had dark brown hair, Dark brown eyes and some long boots. She looked very skinny.. I looked at Louis in fear, Troy couldn't believe what he was seeing, my cousins were shocked along with my aunt and Louis's eyes widened. He took off the fabric covering the woman's mouth from screaming covered in blood in a puddle of dry blood. Louis grabbed the fabric from around her mouth and she started talking really fast in Japanese.
"ありがとうございました!私は太陽の下で外出しているので、それは何年ですか、それは本当に長い間、どうもありがとうございました?どうしたんですか。教えてもらえますか?" (Thank you! Thank you very much its been so long since I've been out in the sun what year is it? What's happening? Can you tell me?)
"What's she saying?" Troy asked.
"Let... me... handle this." Louis told Troy.
"誰か教えてもらえますか?" (Can anyone of you tell me?)
"2015年7月2日です。台風が来たのですが、私たちは宝物のためにボートでここに着きましたが、代わりに私たちはあなたを見つけました." (It is July 2nd 2015. A typhoon is here we got here by boat for treasure but instead we found you.) Louis said.
"Wait a minute, Auntie how come he doesn't stammer when he speaks Japanese?" Troy asked again. "Did he fake his stammering the entire time of his life?"
"Naw Troy yer talkin crazy. It's just easier for him to speak Japanese because well... It's easier for him that way."
"You can ask Louis. He may have a better reason for you than Matilda" I said.
"8週間が経っています." (It's been 8 weeks.)
"8週間?!" (8 weeks?!)
"彼。。。嘘。。。彼は嘘をついた。彼は私に嘘をついた!!!" (He... lied... He lied. HE LIED TO ME!!!)
"誰があなたに嘘をついたのですか?誰が。何のことをいっているのですか?" (Who lied to you? Who? What are you talking about?)
"私の兄弟。彼は私たちを守り、決して私たちを置き去りにさないと約束しました。私と兄と私の古い両親は長い間テントで森の中に住んでいました。私たちは貧しく、あまり余裕がありません。ある日、彼は私たちに食べ物を持って戻ってくると約束しました。私たちは何時間も待ち、それは数日、それから数週間、数ヶ月に変わりました。その日、私は自分で食べ物を探し始めましたが、その後、私はこの胸の中のこの場所でここに捕らえられました." (My brother. He promised to protect us and never leave us behind. Me, My brother and my old parents lived here in the woods in tents for a long time. We're poor and can't afford much. One day he promised us that he'll come back with food. We waited for hours, it turned into days, then weeks, months. That day, I started to hunt for food myself but then I was captured here in this place inside this chest.)
"ああ神..." (Oh god...)
"W-What do we do now dad?" Jacqueline asked.
"テントがどこにあるか覚えていますか?" (Do you where your tent is?) Louis asked.
"いいえ." (No.)
"Louis I don't know if we should trust her. What if she's not actually poor. I... I don't trust the las." Aunt Matilda said.
"She's... Been... living... here... for years... with... no... yen... She... has... a tent... as... shel... ter."
The skinny woman raises an eyebrow at them and wondered what they were saying since she doesn't speak or understand english.
"私のスコットランドの妻について申し訳ありません。とにかく、あなたのテントはどのように見えますか?" (Sorry about my Scottish wife. Anyways, What does your tent look like?)
"それは青い家族サイズのテントです." (It's a blue family sized tent.) Answered the skinny woman.
"Are... you sure... You... don't... wanna... help... her?"
"Aye."
"She can prove to you she's actually poor by seeing her tent if we help her." I said.
"Yeah." My brother and cousins agreed. "Please?"
"It'll be a bigger adventure and something to ." I said.
"*sigh*... Ok we'll help just dont double cross us. I'm watchin ye."
"あなたは幸運です." (You're in luck.)
"数年後にようやく家に帰って来ることができます!" (Yay I can finally come back home after several years!)
"だから、本当の宝物がそこにない場合, それはどこにありますか?" (So if the real treasure isn't there, Then where is it? Louis asked.
"誰かがすでに宝物を見つけました." (Someone already found the treasure.)
So after Louis and the skinny woman finished talking, We all started to go on a different adventure on finding the woman's tent. She couldn't what direction she came from so she looked at Louis's com and pointed to the ocean.
"All the way there? Ye are far from home."
"残念ながら、私たちはボートを持っていません." (Unfortunately, We don't have a boat.) Louis said.
The skinny woman then goes gather wood planks along with Louis and starts building a wooden boat big enough to fit them all. After a couple hours ed, The boat was finally ready and everyone with their stuff went in the boat. I decided to write another letter to my dad to check on him. The sun was setting so uncle Louis got out a lantern to see for the rest of the night. I was tired so I was the first to go to sleep on an uncomfortable boat after I finished writting a short letter and after the boat started moving.
"私たちはまだあなたの名前を持っていません。お名前は?" (We haven't got your name yet. What's your name?) Louis asked.
"私はルイスです。妻のマチルダ、甥のスコットとトロイ、娘のジャクリーン、クロエ、ゾーイです." (I'm Louis. This is my wife Matilda, My nephews Scott and Troy and my daughters Jacqueline, Chloe and Zoey.)
"皆さん、私は芦道千郎です." (Nice to meet you all I'm Chiro Ashido.)
After we introduced ourselves to her, I tried to think of a conversation to start with so it wouldn't be so awkward.
Tavis's POV: I did some meditatin tae try calming myself down which was the last thing I had left to try. Nothin else worked I tried bein hypnotized from Cassidy which usually works but nothin changed.
"Is the meditating working?" She asked.
"Aye a wee bit."
"Now try to not think of the boys and focus on your inner space. Now take deep breaths in from your nose and breathe out from your mouth. Let your mind be free from all the worries and relax."
As I was meditatin, I heard another paper airplane fly onto our windae. I didn't pay much attention. Meditatin was workin. Cassidy grabbed the paper airplane this time and read from it.
Dear dad,
You can write back now.
Sincerely Scott Macduff
She wrote a letter back this time. Her writin was much more bonnie than mine as she writes in cursive meanwhile mine isn't as neat and pretty as hers.
Scott's POV: After sometime finishing a debating over dangos and mochi even tho I wanted to talk about how good dangos were but no my brother didn't agree so we started a debate and everyone was in. Poor Chiro didn't know what was going on and tried minding her own business without worry by looking at the water. In the water were koi fish in a big group together swimming in the same direction as the boat. Chiro touches one of the koi fish to get their attention.
"ねえ、どこに行くの?今、私はあなたと話している離れて泳ぐな." (Hey where are you going? Don't swim away now I'm talking to you.)
"Ooo fishes." Chloe and Zoey said pointing at them.
"I hate to spoil all the fun but I'm feart that we're aboot to head to a waterfall." Aunt Matilda said pointing to the waterfall up close.
"Ooooh NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!" I shouted as the wooden boat falls on the waterfall.
"WHY DID WE EVER TAKE THAT RIIIIVVEEERRRRR?!?!?!" Troy shouted.
"IT WAS THE ONLY RIVER STREAM WE HAD THEIR WAS NAW OTHER RIVER THAT ED IN TOGETHER!!!!"
"WAAAAAAAAH!!!" Crys Jacqueline.
"WEEEEEEEEE!!!" Chloe and Zoey shouted.
"HOW IS THIS FUN?!?!?!? THE BOAT'S ALL SHOOGLY AND SOMEONE HAS TO KEEP AN EYE ON THE SUPPLIES, FOOD AND WATER!!!
Chiro just kept screaming while the rest of us were yelling as we all fell. The boat fell onto a rock splitting in half separating us. I fell head first into the water down below hitting my head on a rock and my brother's hand grabbed a branch on a tree. They're were all hanging on that one branch looking around seeing if everyone was here.
"W-Where's Scott?" Jacqueline said.
"Scott? SCOTT!!!" Aunt Matilda shouted.
"Where... is... he?"
"SCOTT?!?! WHERE ARE YOU?!?!?!" Troy shouted.
Chiro looked at the water and saw my floating body. She let's go of Zoey's hand and dived into the river lucky to not land on the rocky part of the river.
"タイセイヨウカライワシ。どこに行きますか。!。!" (CHIRO? WHERE ARE YOU GOING?!?!) Louis shouted.
In the water was me struggling to swim up trying to not lose oxygen. The currents were faster than ever since we were still in a typhoon. I tried my hardest to swim to her but my muscles were getting tired and I could keep up with the current. She swam fast but the water swerved sharply to the left crashing the side of my head. Chiro's eyes widened and swam even faster to grab my hand that was gripping onto a rock. She grabbed my feet and swam quickly fighting the strong current back to where everyone else was. She reaches the surface with me who was knocked out from sharp turns of the water currents.
They all climbed off the tree to the ground to surround me on where Chiro put me. They were relieved that she managed to get me in such strong current.
"Woah" Troy said.
"Woah indeed lad."
I finally woke up coughing up water after some tries from Louis of bringing me back to life. Louis thanked Chiro for saving me from drowning. I was shivering and had the sniffles. I borrowed my Aunt's coat for now so I won't die from hypothermia. After about 4 miles of walking, We saw a tent. It was blue and it looked like a family sized one.
"それはあなたのテントですか?" (Is that your tent?) Louis asked.
"はい。。。そうです。。。私は最終的に家に感謝しています!" (Yes... It is... I'm finally home thank you!)
"So she really doesn't have a real hoose."
After Chiro went back to her tent to finally see her parents again, Everyone else walked across and continued their journey on foot. After walking for a while, The sun started to set and a paper airplane landed on my head. I read the paper airplane before it was too dark to see it as we were walking.
My dear Boys,
How's the adventure going? This is mamma your dad's meditating and it worked surprisingly. Also remind your Auntie when to take you guys back home she tends to forget because she has a lot of fun with you and Troy. You guys are coming back on the 23rd so make sure to check your watch daily.
Love, Mom
I smiled and them my eyes started to close. I yawned and couldn't stay awake walking anymore. We called it a day and settled both tents for tonight. Troy didn't wanna sleep but everyone else and me did so I quickly fell asleep while Troy was in bed looking at the ceiling. After counting sheep up to 65, He finally fell asleep. The typhoon winds weren't strong enough to blow off our tents for now. The next morning when everyone woke up, Aunt Matilda's golden bracelet was gone.
