Ode To The Boy Who Never Leaves

There once was a boy with a horrible haircut.

He stood at his locker on the first day of middle school and met a new girl, who had a locker right next to him.

And they became friends.

Not many people liked the boy.

The girl could never figure out why.

It was true that he was a class clown and was very loud.

But he was always kind to the girl, always making jokes and having fun.

But when he asked her to the school dance she was surprised.

She said yes.

But her friends got mad at her for wanting to go with him and started pressuring her.

Do she told him that she changed her mind.

He was upset with her and she felt beyond guilty.

For a while they didn't talk.

But the following year they were best friends again.

And once again he asked her to the school dance.

And once again she said yes.

This time she was determined to go with him.

Once again her friends tried to stop her.

This time she ignored them.

All except for one friend.

She said that she believed the two were close and would never try and hurt each other.

For awhile this brought the girl peace.

But the girl grew uncomfortable as the glares increased.

In the end she couldn't take the pressure and once again caved.

But he still stayed her friend.

He stayed when she told him she was bi.

He stayed when they told him they were nonbinary.

He stayed when he told him that he was actually a trans guy.

Through it all he would always be there.

Listening and even bringing clothes to school for him to borrow to help him socially .

He was the first one to correct others when they used the wrong pronouns.

The first one to say that his mother's opinion of him didn't matter.

When he came out to his mom and things went so wrong.

He tried to be a girl for two days.

In those two days he had never been more miserable.

One of the only things that got him through was the boy.

But unfortunately when the boy tried to once asked to go on a date the timing with the other boys problems at home made it impossible.

So the boy continued to him as a friend.

But through these years his feelings for him had only grew.

So this time it was him who flirted and tried to spend more time with the boy.

And eventually they finally got together.

And for awhile they dated.

Till the boy made fun of his friends and he got really angry.

So they broke up.

They are still best friends.

And his feelings for the boy haven’t gone yet.

Sometimes that he wishes that the boy would just kiss already.

That they could be together with

no friends

or parents

or anything getting in the way.

he knows that he’s not good at relationships.

That he gets awkward fast.

And has trouble talking about his feelings if it’s not through a piece of paper.

But he’s trying and he hopes that counts for something.

He’s hoping that he won’t miss his chance to tell him how much he loves him.

How much him being there means to him.

And how much it surprised him.

Because for all those times that he pushed him away.

he always came back.

Even if they are never together he still will always cherish that friendship.
