13th Doctor and Yasmin playlists

I decided to do a playlist challenge for two of my favorite Doctor who characters the 13th Doctor and Yasmin. And they are officially considered having a crush on each other so it seemed right that I group them together sort of. I have songs that would fit both of them as individuals as well as together, so I will start with the individual playlist before I go into the group together.

13th Doctor playlist

1. Yellow by Coldplay.

This doesn't need too much introduction as it is a song that Jodi the actress who plays the 13th Doctor saying this song and it's beautiful. But also the fact that the 13th Doctor wears stars on her earring cuff it just fits the song cuz it's like look at the stars, look how they shine for you, and they're all yellow. Also it just fits the theming of the first series with the 13th Doctor the fact that she fell out of the sky to meet her friends.

2. Glorious

This was used in the trailers before the 11th series of Doctor who so of course I had to include it. But then again it also really fits the fact that she is new and experiencing life in a whole different way. The fact that she was navigating a world that's patriarchal as a male and then suddenly she's a female she's seeing this whole other point of view on the world. Some of the lyrics just fit anyway like, I made it through the darkest part of the night and now I see the sunrise I feel glorious.

3. I just need U by TobyMac

This is Christian song but it really fits into the overall story arc of the 13th Doctor as a whole especially series 12 and 13 when she is more into self-doubt and trying to figure out more about her past. Some of the words are in my darkest days when I'm losing faith I just need, I just need you. In series 12 you are introduced to the fact that the doctor was lied to all her life and she is the reason why the time Lords could regenerate. Then she became in prison and was forced to go into this form of self-doubt and pity and wanting to learn about herself more and that is when in series 13 she goes really dark and needs her friends all the more.

4. We all bleed the same.

This is more about the doctors view on life then her story arc with this one. The doctor is really all about resolving fights in a way that anyone benefits and she doesn't favor either side so basically she fits this song really well. One of the lines is if we're going to fight let's fight for each other, if we're going to shout let love be the cry. Another one of the lines is are you left are you right pointing fingers taking sides when are we going to realize that we all believe the same?

5. My Universe by Coldplay.

Again this is another Coldplay song that Jody loves and was presented this on a day that she was promoting series 13 of Doctor who. But this really also fits with the doctor in the sense that in one of the episodes from series 12 there is this poem at the end that mentioned she was the universe and people took that to me that 13 is a universe and Yaz is her planet. But also I really love this song even though some people find it unpopular also, I really like that it has some Korean in it and the fact that the doctor speaks every language it just fits.

Yasmin

1. Break Away from princess diaries 2.

This feeds into Yaz's story arc. We started off with figuring out that Yaz was bullied in high school by a girl her age. And like with me her entire grade turned on her though in my case it was in primary school. She often felt like she just wanted to break away from that life, eventually throughout series 12 we figure out that this made Yaz suicidal. Which is why I thought I would post this in September since September is suicide awareness month and I have felt those thoughts I never acted on them but I've had intrusive thoughts that no one at my school would notice if I just randomly disappeared. Fortunately now that is not the case I am mostly recovered from that.

2. Faded

"You are the colour to my light do you feel us? Another turn you fade away. I'm afraid our aim is out of sight, want to see us alight?" I think this is more of a reference to the fact that she starts out in series 11 not knowing that she is Sapphic and then she starts getting more and more attached to 13 as time goes on. Eventually in series 13 Dan notices just how much yes was actually into the doctor to the point where it was more than as familial love as what the fam was but more into like the idea of romantic relationship. Basically the hardest thing for religious Sapphic's, especially ones of Islamic or Christian faith it is hard to overcome the the intense homophobia that you were raised with even if you were not against it yourself you were in a community that inherently is usually.

3. I see fire from The Hobbit.

this one goes with the fact that the doctor and gas went through a lot of risks together some of them being quite the visible chance of death so I thought I see fire would be a good song to fit that. Especially with the fact that Yaz does not mind going into those situations if it means that she can protect the doctor. But at the same time she wants to have a chance to relax with the doctor on a beach which is basically like raising a glass of wine except for the fact that she can't have wine because she's Muslim so she can't have alcohol.

It's All about your heart

I imagine this as a sort of duet between the two as there are some bits that remind me of 13 more than Yasmin and then parts that fit Yasmine more than 13. "You're a butterfly held captive small and safe in your cocoon, go on, you can take your time, time is said to heal all wounds." This bit for example fits 13, same with the lock without a key bit so those parts would be sung by Yasmin. "My imagination sees you like a painting by Van Gogh. Starry nights and bright sunflowers follow you where you may go." This part fits Yasmin a little bit more than 13. Or at least seems like something 13 would sing or describe Yaz to be like.

this is probably all I can fit into this one blog but I may add more at some point. I hope that you knew some of these songs already and I introduced you to some that you may not have listened to otherwise but still are interested in or listened to because of this and like it.
