Let’s talk about shapeshifting powers! In the spirit of halloween this seemed like a fitting power since so many slasher monsters seem to use this power!
Main Uses
Usually used for disguises. Being able to device people by looking exactly like something else. This can extend to people animals or objects! A shapeshifter may be able to turn their limbs into blades or guns or transform into a lion or bear!
This is great for blending into crowds if your trying to make an escape or catch the enemy off hairs by looking like someone they know. It’s often seen in infiltration when someone goes undercover to the enemy side to gain info.
Typicaly a shapeshifter can turn into anything that they’ve seen before including the substance that it’s made out off!
(Envy from Full metal alchemist)
Dark side
Usually there is one thing about the shapeshifter that stays the same. Maybe it’s their eye color or a certain marking that can distinguish them from what they are taking the form of. Sometimes a shifter will be stuck in a form depending on their environment or circumstance. Also, thought isn’t the only thing shifters have to do while changing form. Some shifters need a dna sample from what they need to alter into like a strand of hair. Or other times thy need to touch the other person to copy them effectively.
How it’s Described in writing
This is almost never an instantaneous process. If it is then it’s usually not seamless. It’s either preformed in a flash of light or a slower alteration of morphing into the other form. There isn’t much to say about how this power is described on the surface. But what really makes this power stand out in writing is the the dna and what happens to the body. There’s a chance that shapeshifting can permanently alter the if used in excess. A very common theme with this power is the clothes that the shifter wears will more often then not stretch with the transformation and then fit agin once they turn back to normal. But clothes that stretch like that don’t just snap back to normal fits. More often than not they rip so badly they can’t be worn anymore. Especially when morphing into an animal with claws or a form much bigger than the s normal size. Another limit with this is the size of the shapeshifter. A normally sized person likely isn’t going to be able to get as tall as a building easily and will have a limit of how big or small their powers can make them without hurting themselves. Or at the very least, not being able to hold the form for very long.
And that concludes the end of the shapeshifter powers post! Good luck writing your mimics, copycats and If you liked this content and are interested in ing the adventure committee, check out the wikis below! Still accepting new !

The girl in the picture is actually a monster called a mimic! In lots of rpgs and adventures stories, these creatures shape-shift into treasure chests or pretty girls to lure in unsuspecting explorers to eat them for dinner!
