This is one power I really like. Healing powers!
Main uses
A healers primary use of their powers is to... well heal! It's not primary used for combat, but anyone who's played video games can agree your team is sunk without your healer. When anyone takes a heavy blow, your healer can fix them right up. Wether it's bruises, broken bones or sickness, your healer can handle it.
In some cases, they might be able to regrow a persons severed limbs or even heal them to be even healthier than before they were injured! But there aren't many more uses besides that.
Still.
Don't mess with the white mage.
Dark side
Most people don't think that a healer would have any drawbacks at all, but they exist. In fact, there are tons. One of the worst problems when it comes to the healer is when their whole team is wiped and they're the only ones left.
Uh oh.
And not all healers can just heal without tiring themselves out. In some cases, healers can only use their power by taking the injury onto themselves to help the other person. And what's more, the can't heal someone who's dead. That would go out of the realm of healing and they'd have to be resurrected instead. Healers are sometimes capable of this, but often not. And if they can, there is often a set time for resurrection to occur after death. They wouldn't be able to resurrect some who's been dead for say 300 years because there would be nothing left to resurrect! Not to mention, healing isn't always instantaneous. It can rule time and super hard concentration to heal a fatal wound!
(That's why in rpgs, the revival spells cost so much more mp I tell ya!)
Healing may also be limited to oneself or just others, making so they can heal themselves but not their allies or just allies while they can't help themselves if they get hurt.
Described in writing
Healing is very often depicted as a glowing light in most fantasy books and shows. Complete with sparkles or small motives from delicate animals. Like bird feathers or butterfly wings. The emitting light is often green due to the fact green makes people think of healthy plants and medicine. But it can honestly be any color depending on what source the healing power is drawn from.
Very often the healer will have to be touching the patient in order to heal them. Unless they're using spells that can heal long distance, a healing has to keep this in mind in a fight. They're main role is to allies in a fight, but you rarely ever see a healer combat a powerful foe all on their own. One way they can reasonably do this is to keep healing themselves from all injuries until the enemy tires out or gives up. Or if you want to be hard core and heavy metal about it, you could have your healer do attacks that would normally kill anyone else because it also injures them, but you healer shrugs it off. Honestly, if your healer can regenerate limbs after they've been cut off, they'd be a force to be reckoned with if they were friends with a vampire. Or even someone who uses spells that require blood sacrifices to work. They'd almost have unlimited ammo for them. When it all comes down to it, healing can be the most dangerous of all the powers.
And that finishes the post on holy powers! I hope it was helpful! Have fun writing your acolytes, medics and paladins!
