This will be a two shot, due to severe laziness to pack the whole story into one.

For Sky, who was expecting it last year. Heh. Eh.

Trigger warning: This story holds death, murder.

"Settle around children," Aunt May said, smiling softly at the little crowd of younglings. My eyes drift to the group, most of them are friends I know. Today is story time, it's one of the rare pleasure we get.

My village is a small one, poor of any riches. Everyone knows who you are, who your parents are and even more. There are times when we got more rations. Even those are far apart in time.

"What's the story today Aunt May?" I ask, settling down in the front, always ready for the story.

"The vampire queen," Aunt May says, quickly gaining the attention of the children. She smiles, laughing softly. Her delicate hands sliding across a worn book.

"Years ago, there was a queen. A very beautiful queen, a fierce queen..."

The moon shines down upon a single woman, as pale as the light cast on her. She breathes in, holding the breath, before releasing.

"Do you see?" She suddenly asks, her brilliant blue eyes turning, training on shrubs a few feet ahead of her. There is a rustle, a man steps out from behind the bush. The two gaze at each other, before the man turns his head, gazing to the side. A blade in his hand.

"See what this time Layla? The forest? The moon?" The male spat, lip curving. Layla laughs, sitting on the ground, uncaring of the dirt tarnishing her dress.

"No, do you see the spirit? On our child, Joseph?" Layla asks, making Joseph growl. Joseph grips the blade with a shaking hand.

"That child is not mine!" Joseph snarls, anger churning in his belly. Layla laughs, slowly her pearly whites appear. The bright light illuminating her fangs.

Layla stands, her blue eyes bleeding crimson. The once docile woman raises to her full height. The tension in the air thick. "You helped me, Joseph. We made her. No matter your status as a hunter, she is still yours. Your job over your blood?"

Joseph shifts his body. gazing at the woman he loves. This one woman who wrecks his world. He sighs.

"Layla. Please." He whispers. Layla's answer is clear as she lifts her arms. She chooses her daughter. Joseph grits his teeth.

"So be it."

"Aunt may! What did he do to her?!" A girl squeals, shock clear on her face.

"He killed her. Layla chooses to fight for her daughter instead of allowing him to kill her." Aunt may answers, bluntly. The collective gasp is heard, making me roll my eyes.

"Continue," I say, faintly, nudging Aunt May. She laughs, nodding.

Two figures cradle a tiny bundle. A sigh escapes one as they feel it, the death of their poor queen.

“We must leave Tsun, we promised we would love and watch after her.” The other says, watching as Tsun looks forward, nodding gently.

“Yes, Let’s go, Brooke,” Tsun whispers, looking at the little bundle in her own hands. Brooke reaches, taking Tsun’s hand, gently smiling.

“Hey, we get our chance at parenting, fun right?” Brooke jokes, gently tugging her along, eyes looking at the bundle. The queen’s only prized possession now theirs.

“Yeah. Fun hell,”

“The two took this baby and raised her. They never fail to see her resemblance to her mother. They never cease to see the Angel this little one holds.”

“Dammit Tsun! How did you lose her?! We are trained vampires! Compared to us she shouldn’t get more than two feet away!” Brooke rages, slapping her lover’s chest, repeatedly. Tsun whines, catching her hands.

“She is fifteen now Brooke!” Tsun defends herself. She looks around.

“Angel! If you don’t come here this instant we are leaving you!” Brooke huffs, arms crossing. She bares her fangs at her lover, the softer parent. Tsun glares the other way, giving a pout.

“I don’t wanna move momma!” Angel frowns, seeming to appear from then air. The wide blue eyes she possesses grows large. Brooke sighs, walking to her daughter, taking her hand.

“Angel, you know why we move. They hunt people like us,” Brooke says, trying to get the blonde child to look at her. Angel grits her teeth, swatting Brooke’s hands away from her face.

“You mean creatures like us,” Angel spat, turning away. She storms away, leaving Brooke in her bent state. Tsun hugs Brooke, rubbing her back.

“Hey, teenage years am I right?” Tsun jokes, spotting the sadness in her lover’s eyes. Brooke bites her lip, looking at the ground. Brooke only sighs, allowing the silence.

“Ew! They are together! That’s weird!” A boy whines, making Aunt May arch her eyebrow at him. I know by the look she dislikes his words. Aunt May get a gentle smile.

“If your world is clouded with such toxic thoughts you will not last long,” Aunt May says, sweetly. She turns the page.

“The young queen in training did not understand why she is so different. She saw a human, she felt human, so why not be human? Human is her desire, sadly, she was shown the hard way of who humans really are.”

“Beth!” Angel cries, throwing herself into the arms of her best friend. Beth gives a gentle huff, though she does smile.

“Angie,” Beth replies, simple. Angel grins at her nickname. The smile, quite quickly, drops and a frown shows.

“I am leaving Beth,” Angel whispers, wrapping her arms around her friend tighter. Beth gives a soft grunt of pain, clearly, Angel wasn’t drawing back on her strength. Beth looks at Angel, a dark look in her eyes.

“Why?” Beth asks, prodding her to speak. Ange chews her lip, ing her parent's words. Their repeating warnings. We aren’t the same Angel, Brooke whispers, we will never be the same.

Angel grits her teeth. She looks at Beth, finding solace in this girl. “I am a vampire,”

I gasp, knowing that it only meant trouble for the little queen. Aunt May looks at me, grinning at me. Aunt may tell me multiple times, I am special. I don’t understand why. Aunt may lick her lips, wetting her dry lips.

“Beth is what we call a backstabber children. Beth is the daughter of a hunter, so it was easy for her to figure out what Angel is. Even without her telling. If you have a friend you protect them, unfortunately, Beth didn’t understand that.”

“Tsun!” Brooke cries, reaching out to her wife, tears sliding down her porcelain cheeks. Tsun looks up, gives a single smile. Tsun turns, racing in a different direction, the blade still pushed into her belly. The hunters focus on the fleeing vampire, momentarily forgetting of the child and woman.

“Angie!” Beth cries out, stumbling to her, her body beaten. Angel hiccups, trying to surge forward. Brooke stops her, gripping her shoulder gently. Brooke looks down at the young child.

“What have you done?” Brooke growls, her body trembling. Beth regards Brooke with a cold gaze. A blade glitters in the moonlight. Angel gasps, whimpering.

Brooke’s eyes turn crimson, anger consuming her. Her lover was now dead, or close to death because of this girl. The only thought in her mind is, Kill. Beth gets a smile, so cruel in the face of death.

“You are monsters. Monsters deserve to die. This is why I told my father about you, Angel. You’re naive,” Beth sneers, laughing. Angel’s heart broke that day, desire to be human extinguishing. Brooke moves. The single movement leaves Beth’s neck snap to the side. She grabs Angel’s hand, fleeing the area.

“Poor Angel…” I whisper, a tear welling in my eye. Aunt may bends, wiping away my tear, a gentle smile on her face. Her eyes sparkle with mirth.

“Ah but her story has only begun. Angel’s heart, stone cold with the remembrance of the betrayal, never open once more. Brooke teaches her of her powers, even telling her of Layla. It wasn’t very hard for them to stumble upon more vampires.”

“Who are you?” Angel glares at all those around her. She knew of vampires in groups, or covens as they call it.Covens are notorious for being harsh to outsider vampires. Brooke grips Angel’s hand, fearing the fight.

“Brooke?” A hoarse voice rasps, slowly an older vampire walks to the front. He watches Brooke, smiling. Brooke gasps before she throws herself at the man. She grips him, sniffling.

“I’m sorry. She’s dead. Tsun is dead.” Brooke cries, shaking. Angel soon found out that the man is Tsun’s father. His name a simple one, Tom. It isn’t hard to understand that he soon is going to die as well. Angel is forced into of death, it seems that is what she consists of.

“No. Poor Tom did not last long. Angel, the young age of 21 is finally taking her crown.”

The panic around the coven is clear. Tom is dead, there is none to lead them. Their safety is gone. Vampires rush to pack up, others waiting for the inevitable. Angel looks at them, stepping forward.

“Listen!” Her call gets their attention. “Tom is dead. We all know this, yet why are we going to leave his legacy? He’s given all his time, his life to making this coven great! We are not to abandon his work!”

The silence is deafening. As slow as possible the vampires lower into bows, pledging to her.

“The end.” Aunt May says, abruptly. She grins at the gasps of the disgruntled children. Protests start to arise, making Aunt May give a hearty laugh.

“There is more, I will read it to you next story time. We have learned of the Queen’s childhood, time for her adulthood!” The children, still displeased, slowly stand and walk out the cottage. I stay in my little-hidden corner, waiting for Aunt May to move from the book.

I dash for the book as soon as I can. I open it, only to find blank pages, making me blink. The book is empty. If the book is empty does that mean?
