December

I overheard my father talking with Mr. Pritchard. He was upset that most of his harvest was lost to blight. My father asked him if he had anything that would make God punish him. He got mad called my father a bastard as sulked off.

January

Me and Mary were out in field. We noticed Abigail on the hill near by. She seemed to be taking to someone behind the tree, She went fully behind it. Sadly I didn't get to see who she was talking to, My father came by and told me that mother was looking for me.

The next day while in town Anna told me that Abigail was talking with James Ellis. She told me that Abigail and him were playing with each other, touching hands, hair and maybe even shared a kiss!

February

Mrs. Smith, my mother and I were out in the yard hanging clothes. Mrs. Smith was saying that the Miller girls, Rebecca and Elizabeth had gotten sick. She said that Mrs. and Mr. Miller woke up to they screaming in the middle of the night. They were shouting " We're sorry!", "Don't hurt us!" and " We didn't tell anyone!". They eventually calmed the girls down, now there stricken with fever.

After Mrs. Smith left and I was done with all my chores, I went to Mary's house. When I went over there I saw Doctor Baker's horse outside. I went up to the door and knocked. Mary's mother, Mrs. Thompson told me that Mary was sick and for me not to tell anyone but my mother if she asked.

March

The streets were full of shock and horror as more girls fell ill. Only me and few others didn't get sick. Rumors spread, some said that girl had the poxs , others said that God was punishing us for not worshipping him enough. But one rumor took more hold.

Old Mother Bradley, wife of the now ed former Mayor and faithful woman of the English church said that this was all cause by one of our new arrivals. Katherine Foley, an Irish seamstress. She had come here last fall and had gotten herself a few male ires, her long fire red hair and emerald green eyes captivated most of the unmarried men.

Mother Bradley explained that because Katherine was Irish, she probably had connection to the devil. Saying that her people were devil worshipers before we purified them.

But some didn't believe her, they stuck to their own or other rumors.

April

Me and mother were in town running errands. We're about to leave and head back when a hysteria broke out in the street.

Isaac Warren, a ship builder collapsed. He was foaming at the mouth and shaking viciously. Martha Cole, his wife to be was banging in for someone to help. Women were shouting at the men to get Doctor Baker, while men were shouting at the women to move so they could help the man in the circle of women.

But sadly it was too late, Isaac Warren had died. Poor Martha was never the same again. Doctor Baker asked Mayor Robson if could ask people about the incident, fearing that Warren was the first victim of a new plague.

So, the next day Doctor Baker, Mr. Pritchard, Mr. Ellis and Michael Cole, Martha's brother, went around questioning anyone who was there at the scene. Everyone told the same story, at the market running errands, Martha screamed, hysteria.

But something came up in the questioning, something that would change the town forever. Pinned mother against father, brother against sister, family against family.

Helena Wells, also a seamstress said that they saw Katherine and Isaac together just a couple days before his death.

May

Spring was in the air in most towns.... But here blood lust was in the air.

Mother Bradley's rumor was no longer a rumour to some, it was a fact to all and everyone wanted something done.

Mayor Robson didn't know what to do. Mother Bradley suggest that we do what they did in England when they had the same problem... Trial.

So, on that rainy day Mother Bradley, Mr. Pritchard, Mr. Ellis, Micheal Cole, Mr. Miller stormed into the tailors shop and dragged Katherine out into the streets. A massive crowd followed them shouting at Katherine calling her a whore, a wench, a murderer, and other words I'm not allowed to say.

They paraded her around town, pulling on her hair. They did for hours, from sunrise to when the moon was high. They eventually stopped but they had to lock her up, so they put her in the stocks.

The next day they took her to the court house but that was after repeating what they did the day before. Katherine walked in, hands tied up tight to the point her finger were blue. She stood before the court, Judge Williams, Mayor Robson and Mother Bradley.

They asked her if she had talked with Isaac before his death, she said no. The court went into a uproar, shouting that she was lying. Judge Williams and Mayor Robson shouted at the people to settle down so they could continue. The court fell into a hush and they continued with the questions.

They asked what was her relationship with him and if she knew that Martha and him were getting married. Katherine said that she knew Isaac, he would visit the tailor shop to talk to Martha. He would casually talk to her sometimes but that was about it. She also knew that they were going to get married, it was what everyone was talking about.

They stopped with questions and brought out Helena. She said that the Wednesday morning before Isaac's death she saw him and her talking in front of shop. Isaac threw his hands into the air and shouted at her as he walked away. Helena described how Katherine looked at him, she held gaze with Isaac's back for a long time before going the opposite way.

Katherine denied this saying that she wasn't there Wednesday morning, she came in later.

Helena replied saying that it had to be her because she's the only red head in town. The court exploded into anger and Katherine's fate was sealed.

June

Katherine was first of many to go on the hill.

After her people thought it was over but it was only the beginning.

The week after Katherine, it was Mary Walker. Mrs. Smith saw her talking to her cat. Mother Bradley said that it was probably the devil, he can take many forms. And since she was a seamstress, they thought that she was working with Katherine. So, she did too go up the hill.

Then it was Sarah Green, another seamstress and Natalie, a slave. For Sarah it was because she would talk to Katherine a lot. For Natalie it was the death of Molly Edwards during childbirth. Elizabeth, her sister and her husband blamed her for it because she always stared at Molly with anger while she was pregnant.

Sadly, both walked up the hill.

August

August was a surprise to me. I thought that people would realize that this was insanity but no, It kept going.

Rachel Woods, sister, outted by mother and sister.

Helena Wells, wife, outted by Mrs. Smith. Helena was the first surprise of the month, the woman who set things off was now going to be offed herself. Mrs. Smith said that she must've known Katherine killed Isaac and wanted to save herself.

So, Helena was sent to the hill.

Things died down, I prayed that this was the end but no......... August had one more surprise for me.

It was late into the night, we were at the table eating when there was a knock at the door. It was Mr. Pritchard and Mr. Ellis. They asked if they could talk to me, I did.

They asked me about the day Abigail was on the hill. I asked why but they brushed my question off and ask about Abigail again. I stood there dead eyed, I didn't want to tell them..... I had a bad feeling about it. Mr. Pritchard ask me again. I looked at my feet and took a deep breath." Me and Mary, were in the field, we saw Abigail up on the hill. I don't know what happened next because I left!" I spat out.

Mr. Pritchard and Mr. Ellis bidded me good night and left, but I didn't have a good night.

All I knew that bad things were coming

September

Elizabeth Warren, daughter and wife, outted by mother, father and husband.

Then came the worst.

I was forced to testify against Abigail. Me, Mary,Anna, Rebecca, and Elizabeth all stood before the court. Elizabeth and Rebecca said that Abigail was talking to the devil up on the hill, while Mary and Anna said that she was talking to James, Mr. Ellis was obviously upset about that, Mr. Pritchard had to remove him from the courthouse.

I walked up in front of Mother Bradley, Judge Williams and Mayor Robson." Samantha, were you at the field when Abigail Richards was up at the hill?" Mother Bradley asked.

I clenched my stomach and looked at the ground." Y- Y - Yes..." I blurted out.

" What was she doing?" Judge Williams asked as he rubbed his chin.

I glanced up." I don't know, my father told me to go home before Abigail came down the hill." I fiddled with my fingers." The next day Anna told me that she was talking with James."

" You're dismissed." Judge Williams said flatly. I quickly walked back to the stands with the other girls.

Mother Bradley, Judge Williams and Mayor Robson look for a few minutes. Mayor Robson stood up and cleared his throat.

My stomach dropped, I heard Mary gasp and Anna looked at them wided eyed.

While running errands, I over heard someone talking about Bethany Robson, and how she could be a witch. They told Mother Bradley and hoped that something would be done.

And something was..... But not the way they wanted it. Mayor Robson called everything off. The people who were in still in jail were released.

And life went on as usual

No one wanted to talk about it, they just wanted everything to go away. Some did talk about it saying that it was absurd and just morbid.

But nothing really changed, just a few pieces die. They treated it like the poxs, it just happened.

In this now, smaller town know as Salem.
