A Poem

I say I'm hers; but that cannot be,

My heart simply won't listen to me,

Is it all in my head,

Nothing more than words I said?,

Looking for just the right one,

Overlooking all that's been done,

Very patiently waiting in silence,

Every beat and act of defiance,

Wonder if it'll ever change,

If it'll forever stay the same,

There's no way to know,

How much longer this will go,

You don't see that I'm not there,

Out of the way; out of your hair,

Understand that I'm emotionally gone,

Being all that I can,

Understand that I can't be your man,

There's no reason to keep trying,

I'm in love with you; but I love the silence more,

Leap into the unknown one last time,

One last time to call you mine,

Viewing us through a lens,

Either leave or continue pretend,

There's no escape,

How do I leave before it's too late?,

Every chance seems to slip away,

Something fake,

I do a double take,

Let your eyes see what I hid,

Escape everything I did,

No; you won't hear me callin'

Can my heart realize it's fallen?,

Except it fell for someone else,

Maybe I made the mistake,

Or gave myself the heartache,

Read between the lines and see,

Everywhere else my heart will lead.
