What Makes Cersei A Good Character?

Hello Thrones Amino, today for the first time (I believe) I’m bringing a question for you all! I’ve written many blogs about Cersei, why I think she’s interesting and what distinguishes her from the other characters. I’ve talked about what I like about her, her flaws, a bit about her psychology and also how she compares to other characters and even real-life historical figures. As a result, I think my opinions of her are fairly well-known, so I’ll try to keep my own thoughts reasonably brief.

I think that she is incredibly strong, ruthless and determined but there are also times when the mask cracks and you can see a different side of her, particularly where Jaime or her children are concerned. Not to mention, I think she’s an impeccably well-rounded, 3D character. She’s never just one thing, she’s far too complicated for that. Since I’ve already discussed my own opinions though, I’d like to hear yours so I thought it would be nice to get some opinions from the amino itself.

Understandably, not everyone is going to like Cersei. In fact, she’s the type of character which people may love to hate, or even just dislike, and that’s alright. Everyone has their own opinions and that’s a good thing. In which case you may not have an answer to this question. Or, you could talk about what makes you love to hate her, if that’s the case. Anything goes, I’m just interested in seeing the different opinions out there so don’t be hesitant to say whatever you want, I’m not judging!

Additionally, it’s interesting to consider the differences between a “good” character and one you like because they are not necessarily the same thing. There are characters in ASOIAF/GoT that I think are objectively “good” characters, perhaps they are interesting or well written, but that I don’t particularly like. So it’s a similar case for this post, but overall I’d just like to hear some different thoughts. Thank you for reading/participating and I look forward to hopefully reading some answers.
