Ours is the Night Fury

Hello!

So yeah, I've decided to participate in the #DragonriderChallenge, and I'll be pairing Shireen Baratheon with Toothless, the Unholy Offspring of Lightning and Death Itself, and as antagonist there'll be Joffrey Baratheon with his Bewilderbeast. Anyway, let's just get to it.

Why?

Well, I decided to pair Shireen with Toothless because they are both, in my opinion, so innocent, and they just want to do good. And when I try to think of a good dragon for Shireen, the only one that comes up in my mind is Toothless.

Now, Joffrey and the Bewilderbeast. If you have seen How to Train Your Dragon 2, you might that this is an alpha dragon, tortured into submission by Drago ever since his birth. So yeah, when I think of who would torture a dragon to make him obey, my mind immediately goes to Joffrey.

Princess Shireen of House Baratheon walked along the beach of Dragonstone, Ser Davos Seaworth close beside her, as she talked about trivial matters with the Onion Knight. Suddenly, she came to a stop, as she saw what lay several feet away in the sand. A figure, black as night, with... wings?

Not listening to the protests of Ser Davos, the young girl stepped forward, getting closer to the mysterious creature, but stops again when she sees it inching away from here, its bright green eyes filled with fear. It's a dragon, she realised, shocked, as her mind went to the dragon her cousin controlled, which was nothing like the one that lay before her now. Joffrey's dragon was a Bewilderbeast, one that he had raised from birth, causing the dragon to obey the boy's every command. The boy had been brought the dragon by a merchant, who claimed that the egg had been laying on a small island in the Shivering Sea.

But this one, it was so small compared to Joffrey's dragon, and it appeared to have some kind of injury, as one of its tail-fins was missing. "Stay back, Princess," Ser Davos suddenly spoke, as he closed in on the dragon, pulling his sword out of its sheath, "this is a dangerous beast, and must be killed."

Shireen looked from the dragon to Davos and back again, seeing the fear in the dragon's eyes growing at the sight of Davos approaching. "No, stop!" She called out, her voice echoing over the empty beach. "Don't you see that it's hurt? It's missing one of its tail-fins." Davos stopped after hearing her words, and lowered his sword, finally seeing the fear in the dragon's green eyes, and realising that it was frightened of him.

The Princess ran forward, past Davos, and stopped short about a feet away from the maimed dragon. She extended her hand, palm forward, so the creature could see she didn't mean harm. The dragon looked at Shireen's hand inquisitively, and it seemed to be in doubt. But Shireen did not move forward, nor did she move backward. She just stood there, her palm outstretched, looking at the black dragon intently.

Eventually, the dragon gave in, and moved towards the girl. Shireen put her hand on the dragons head, feeling the black scales below her hand. "Ser Davos," she spoke, breaking the man out of his shock, "do you think he's hungry?" After asking this question, the dragon opened his mouth slightly, and Shireen noticed that he had no teeth. "You have no teeth," she spoke softly to the creature, "you're completely toothless."

King Robert I Baratheon had died, and now his 'son' had taken to the Iron Throne, sparking a rebellion from both Stannis and Renly, both thinking they belong on that horribly uncomfortable thing. Joffrey had decided to go offensive, using his Bewilderbeast, which he had dubbed 'Hearteater', to squash his 'uncles'. And he had decided to start with Stannis...

The entirety of Dragonstone shook as Hearteater roared, signalling that Joffrey was close. Stannis' fleet was waiting for the dragon, armed to the teeth. Hearteater, however, made quick work of the fleet, and only few were so lucky to escape his ice breath.

Davos watched as the ships around him were consumed by ice, and he saw how the Fury went down, Stannis still on it. But then the dragon turned to Davos' ship, and all the Onion Knight could do was close his eyes and wait for the ice to hit him.

On the beach of Dragonstone, Toothless stood, with Shireen on his back, both shocked by the carnage before them, the former preparing to shoot its fire at the huge dragon, and the latter praying to the Seven, hoping that the Mother would have mercy.

After be was done with the fleet, Hearteater turned to Dragonstone, as Joffrey commanded him to release his ice on the island. The Bewilderbeast had no choice but to obey, and started raining ice on the castle and its inhabitants.

Both Shireen and Toothless realised that something had to be done, if they wanted to save the survivors. The black dragon opened his mouth, and started breathing fire, aiming towards the huge dragon in the water.

The fire hit its target, bringing the dragon's attention to the two sole figures on the beach.

Davos was floating in the water, held up by a wooden plank. Almost every ship had been destroyed, and a lot of men had died, including Stannis himself. But the time for mourning was later. Now he watched the spectacle in front of him with wide eyes, fiercely hoping that Shireen would win.

The black dragon and his rider prepared to jump our of the way of Hearteater's ice breath, and so they did, just in time, as the ice struck the sand. They rolled over the beach, and Shireen, unable to remain sitting on Toothless, slipped out of the saddle, ending up a few feet away from the black dragon.

Hearteater roared once more, shaking everyone to their cores, before breathing ice again, which shot towards the beach at a terrifying speed. Toothless was fast enough to avoid it, but Shireen, however, was not.

"Shireen! No!" Davos shouted, seeing the events unfold from his place in between the waves. He had seen Shireen fall out of the saddle, and he witnessed the ice shoot towards her, striking all around her.

Toothless' green eyes went wide with shock, and he tried to get the ice of off Shireen, but he stopped when he heard Hearteater roar for a third time. His wide eyes then narrowed, as his head turned in the direction of the Bewilderbeast.

Both dragons opened their mouths, and a blast of fire shot towards Hearteater, at the same time as a blast of ice was shot at Toothless.

One would not survive the other's attack, and that was Toothless, the Night Fury.
