Hello!
I am back with another quick blog, about a comparison I have found between the Maesters and the Jedi. This blog will not be very long or extensive, as I'm still relatively busy with school. But yeah... let's just get to it.
The Maesters
Let's check the similarities. The Maesters, just like the Jedi, are ruled by a council, which consists of several highly-skilled of their order. Both groups are forbidden to get married, or have children. And they also have a vast amount of knowledge at their disposal

But there are also differences, of course, like the fact that Maesters do not have Midichlorians in their blood, and do not wield lightsabers, like the Jedi. The Maesters also do not allow females into their order, while the Jedi do.
Qyburn

And now onto Qyburn, one of my main reasons for writing this blog. Qyburn used to be a Maester, but he got rejected due to some questionable morals, and it is rumoured he knows a lot about necromancy. Now, where have we heard that before? In the tragedy of Darth Plagueis of course!
Did you ever hear the tragedy of Darth Plagueis the Wise? I thought not. It’s not a story the Jedi would tell you. It’s a Sith legend. Darth Plagueis was a Dark Lord of the Sith, so powerful and so wise he could use the Force to influence the midichlorians to create life… he had such a knowledge of the dark side that he could even keep the ones he cared about from dying. The dark side of the Force is a pathway to many abilities some consider to be unnatural. He became so powerful… the only thing he was afraid of was losing his power, which eventually, of course, he did. Unfortunately, he taught his apprentice everything he knew, then his apprentice killed him in his sleep. Ironic. He could save others from death, but not himself.

So will the story of Qyburn be the same? Able to save others but not himself? Killed by his very own apprentice, or in Qyburn's case, the little birds? Because it's almost clear now that Qyburn dabbled in the arts of necromancy to create Ser Robert Strong.
The fact that Qyburn was rejected from his order for some dark reasons, makes me think that Qyburn represents a Sith, a black sheep within the Jedi order, and not just Darth Plagueis. Will he be resurrecting more people in the coming books/seasons? Only time will tell...
Anyway, that was my short comparison blog, thanks for reading and 'till next time.

Super late to the party but couldn't help responding coz Star Wars + ASOIAF. I think with how the maesters and the citadel has been shown now, you can also find similarities in how they treat knowledge in that they're both more for pursuit of knowledge for the sake of it rather than it's application.

My boi Qyburn
Would he resurrect Cersei? That would be interesting.
That's a great analysis. It's almost inevitable that GRRM didn't get some inspiration from Star Wars, and Qyburn being Plagueis is a good analysis to see :eyes:
