Greetings!
:droplet: For this weeks Hannah’s Random Thoughts I will be discussing the usage of fate and continuity and how SVTFOE is relying heavily on that. Let’s get started! :droplet:
Let’s address the elephant in the room here, the Blood Moon Ball. Obviously by now we all know that Star and Marco’s souls are bonded together under the Blood Moon, but what are the odds of casually finding someone that happened to be your best friend at a dance, and happened to start dancing at the exact right time? Now that I’ve explained it like that it does sound unreasonable, but I’ve still looked up some theories and other science related to chances and odds regarding these types of situations, and this is the basic run down of what I’ve found.

The chances of meeting the right person at the right time.
It’s hard, but possible. In recent studies done by Harvard University, the odds of walking past a future murderer is 97.6% likely, and most of the population have already and will see at least 14 more, but that’s in a lifetime. I converted that into the odds of seeing one in a month or two, which is around a 2.6% chance. Then I based that number of seeing the right person at the right time, which was 57.3% likely, divided that, and the final number is roughly 24.5% likely, so yes. The scene does rely a bit on fate, but so does every show. (That took a long time wow).
Next let’s talk about Bon Bon the Birthday Clown. One thing I noticed that nobody talks about is Ludo appearing right as Marco and Jackie get there, and Star kind of used it to cover up her crush on Marco, or at least for him. Hear me out. So we all now she called Marco 57 times, because she was obviously jealous, but when Jackie and Marco got to the graveyard, Ludo was already fighting Star and Janna, so they both (at least probably) assumed that she was calling because she needed help fighting him, and what leaves me to believe that she used that to cover up her crush for awhile is that (other than the loss of her book) she never talked about the calls or what happened before they got there.

So how likely is this situation?
I did a experiment with my friends to test it. This is how it worked. I took one friend upstairs, and I told her to come down around the time me and my other friend started to (fake) fight. We were silent. She came down around the right time 6/14 times, which I converted to a percentage, which was around 45.5%. That should be around the same percentage of how likely it is for the situation to happen, so that’s a little more likely than the Blood Moon Ball dance.
Last, I’m going to talk a tiny bit about the $650 Marco always has in his pocket exactly when they need it. So it was confirmed that Marco gets $650 monthly from Princess Turdina merchandise loyalties, and he always seems to have it when they need it, but never when they don’t.

How many episodes does $650 pop up?
11 times so far. In the episodes Heinous, Goblin Dogs, Pizza Thing, The Bounce Lounge, Just Friends, Toffee, Sophomore Slump, Marco Jr., Booth Buddies, and Monster Bash, and also appears in the comic Deep Trouble, and they were all in his pocket in the right times, but that might be because he knows he’ll need it. I know from personal experience that I relate to. For example once I went to a party and forgot some products, so when I went to a similar party and I made a personal note to bring those things, and I continue to do so, so that’s very likely.
:droplet: In Conclusion :droplet:
SVTFOE does rely on coincidences and fate, and some things happen that probably wouldn’t happen that much in real life as often as it does in the show, but other then that, it es the likely test!
:droplet: Tysm for reading this weeks essay! They’ll be posted whenever I finish one. This one took so long wow. :droplet:
