Something on Game Programming (pt.1)

Okay. So I'm a fcking idiot when it comes to computers. I can make internet work but that's about it. Thus, I feel dumber than a bag of bricks sitting in my Game Tech 1 class that meets for 3 goddamn hours.

I have friends in the game programming major, and I used to make fun of them when something went wrong in their coding. "Lol, miss a semi colon? What about an indent? Did you triple check the compile error?"

Now... Now I understand.

Trying to figure out where the missing ; or } is, is like looking for a needle in a haystack. If I'm being honest, I almost walked out of my tech class crying.

Don't make fun of programmers. Just. Don't do it. Don't be That Asshole who thinks programming is nothing more than advanced math.

To compare it to playing a game, programming is like fighting the ultimate boss. Hard, yes. Time consuming, yes. Beatable, yes, but God at what cost. You run out of health potions and the fight isn't half over. He crits your healer and you can't revive them. Your warrior is down next so your thief or mage starts taking the damage. They don't last long. On your final legs, you defeat the boss. Your heart is pounding. Your vision is swirling. It's 3am. How much time has ed. You're hungry and need to pee. You move on through the cut scene (i.e., compile the program to run) only to find...

The boss is undefeated.
